“best cat pee odor remover |remove smell from carpet”

I had a spot on the carpet where the cat had peed several times. I did not treat the spot before ordering Stink Free. I pulled up the carpet and cut out the padding and to expose the backside of the carpet. I poured on Stink Free and the odor seemed to go away but came back within an hour .I kept pouring on the solution, top and bottom of the carpet. I placed a towel underneath so liquid would not soak into the concrete slab. This went on for days until the bottle was empty. The carpet still stinks and has a huge urine stain which wasn’t there before. I have to conclude that Stink Free does not work.

Vacuum. Your pet can leave a smelly trail as they wander around your house. This trail might include stuff like fur, dander, mud, and traces of urine or feces. To remove these odor sources, vacuum your entire house.[1] Use special attachments when necessary, and don’t forget to vacuum:
I just moved into a new place, the people who lived in it before us had dogs. The pet urine smell is actually pretty strong. I’ve used pet urine, stain and odor spray, it didn’t help. We used a carpet scrubber on it twice and I don’t think its helping. Any helpful hits or ideas? I just want the smell gone!
If you suffer from the dog/cat pee problem and don’t have the ability or money to install tile, then buy indoor/outdoor carpet. The new stuff at Lowes feels like real carpet without the problems of it.

Mix up a vinegar solution. If an enzyme cleaner didn’t completely remove the smell, use a vinegar solution. Combine equal parts of white vinegar and water in a bowl or spray bottle. Saturate or spray the soiled area. Saturate a little bit beyond the soiled area so you can be sure to remove all urine.
A: To get rid of the smell of mold, you must first locate the origin of the smell. Throw out items that hold mildew spores, such as cardboard, paper and old fabrics and upholstered furniture, and thoroughly wash the area using a water and bleach solution. Leave an open baking soda box in the area to eliminate any leftover smell, and use a dehumidifier to prevent moisture from collecting in the air and creating more mildew.
If there is any staining along with the odor, use this cleaning solution to remove the urine and odor. Although using the hydrogen peroxide should be just fine, you might want to test this in an inconspicuous spot first.

After applying vinegar to the pee spots and sucking it up with a wet vac…the spots where vinegar was applied shine bright yellow under black light. Does that mean the vinegar created a worse problem? Or that the pee is still there? Any ideas?
Do smoky cigars, lingering pet odors, or strong fumes pollute the air in your home? Although odors and foul smells are a part of life, they don’t need to be a part of your indoor air. Many people ask, ‘Do air purifiers eliminate odors?’ The short answer is yes, but it’s not that simple. Air purifiers aren’t created equally, and certain types of filter media are exceptionally good at removing odors while other won’t remove any. Overall, a HEPA air purifier can dramatically improve your indoor air quality, but getting the right model for your needs makes all the difference.

By wetting the carpet will sometimes “reactivate” the cat urine odor, making it stronger before it gets better. If you’ve treated three or more times, wait a few days to see what happens with the odor. Don’t treat again. Usually what will happen is one of two things: 1) The smell will be lessened but not completely gone, or 2) The smell will have gone completely away.

As a general rule, you should keep as many litter boxes as you have cats in the house, plus one.  You can also try removing the cover of your cat’s litter box (if it has one) or changing the type of litter you use to encourage your cat to use his or her box.
Hydrogen peroxide is another great substance when it comes to breaking down the “crystals” of urine and pulling out stains. Combine it with naturally deodorizing baking soda, and you have another great solution for cleaning up stains.
To tackle odor control, HEPA air purifiers usually combine the HEPA filter with additional filtration systems. Manufacturers like Austin Air combine the HEPA filtration technology with their own carbon/zeolite filter to effectively remove airborne pollutants and lingering odors and smells. The carbon/zeolite filter is impregnated with potassium iodide (in the HealthMate Plus air purifier) for enhanced removal of chemically reactive gases, providing your home with air that’s free of allergens, toxins, and odors.
We have 4 cats. 3 of them used the litter boxes well, until we were forced to take in a new kitten. He was not trained as we were told. Our older female started doing the territorial peeing EVERY WHERE in the house. Spots the new kitten was peeing in as well as on rugs, clothing and the bedding and mattresses. 2 of the cats decided staying outside all the time was the best answer for dealing with the new kitten. Our older female, even a year later, despises this kitten and will purposefully pee on everything right in front of us as if she is still angry that her space was taken. Yes, she was spoiled from the beginning of her life. First it was just but now the kitten has come to age to be in heat..spraying n peeing ALL OVER , wherever he can, which makes our older female even worse so that now she is pooping every where as well. We have a HUGE house that is mostly carpeted, the house is old so the floor underneath is very old wood, which I am positive is soaked to every fiber. We have tried every known remedy online and offline..nothing helps. The kitten is not well enough to be neutered yet, he had a very bad fight with the female and got hurt so is still healing, but we cannot afford to re carpet the entire house or replace the entire flooring (we’re already putting out money for a new roof). The lady who owned the house before us had a dog, she was old and disabled so we are fairly sure no one ever helped her clean these carpets. There are certain spots that they pee n poop worse than others, like right underneath heaters. We think the older female is doingb this mostly out of behavioural issues. Weve had these cats for a long time and love them, but are ready to let them go because of how badly they have ruined the house. PLEASE HELP!!
Thank you everyone. I have a suitcase that someone peed in (I think), as well as the clothes that were in it. The person who belongs to the clothes is appalled, and I really need to find out: 1. How to fix it; 2. Why whoever did it…did it.
Thanks So Very Much for all these tips!!!!! This is the Most Helpful site I have found!!!! Bless you!!! My Elderly parents have a cat who has Never peed inside, then peed a lot on their bed. Now, I feel after a trip to the grocery & pet store, that maybe I will be armed with Everything I need to help them out!!! Many, Many thanks!!!!!
Hey so, I just wanted to say that the one where you mix the baking soda and vinegar you are just making sodium acetate, water, and Co2. If you mix them in the bowl or sprayer before applying it you aren’t really doing anything. You just end up with a lot of water and a small amount of either baking soda or vinegar left over (whichever had too much for the reaction). Just wanted to point that out. It’s basic chemistry.
Steam-clean old stains. A rented cleaner can produce steam that’s hot enough to sanitize the carpet, after which the water can be vacuumed up again. Alternatively, if the spot is particularly large or stained, you can hire a professional cleaner to manage it.
Thank you so much for the pet stain and odor remover. I have 3 dogs, 2 are seniors and are prone to accidents now. I have a questions for you. Do you know of anything that helps toe nail fungal infections. I has caused my nails to thicken and are very uncomfortable.
Finally, if you do want to use a perfumed product to help neutralize the smell, make sure that it is non-toxic to animals. Many products that are safe for humans are not always safe for dogs. Some home air fresheners – sprays, plug-ins and scented oils – can be harmful to a pet’s health, so when in doubt, just stick with the tried and true baking soda solution.
There is one flaw, however, which is that the same citrus smell that discourages your pets from reusing the area is created by orange oil. This is terrible for any kind of hardwood flooring and it’s not worth the risk as it can strip the finish.
Yes! Thank you for saying that! Real (raw) food is the only way they should eat. I feed my German Shepherd Dog raw meaty bone, raw meat and raw organs. It upsets me knowing animals are forced to eat commercial food with diseased and euthenized animals in the ingredients. (Of course it’s not listed but it’s in there)

Blot the urine on your carpet with paper towels. Try to remove as much of the urine as possible. This will ultimately make your job easier. Use clean paper towels and apply pressure. Repeat with new paper towels until you are unable to soak up any more urine.[1]

Try pheromone diffusers if you believe that territorial stress is part of the inappropriate urination issue. These products give off a synthetic version of the “happy cat” pheromone, which makes cats feel less stressed and more likely to use their litter box.
This stuff is amazing. Unfortunately I have a cat that occasionally likes to use the restroom on my beautiful hardwood floors for some reason that I have yet to figure out. I have tried so many cat urine cleaning products that claim to use enzymes to remove the smell, none have worked as well as SUN. (I don’t believe SUN is an enzymatic cleaner, I could be wrong) One in particular that I used to use was Nature’s Miracle – Just for Cats. Wish that had worked because I bought a 2 gallon jug of it. This cleaner, to me smells like urine and therefore makes my house smell like urine until it completely dries, and sometimes my cat will urinate on the same area after using it. I can’t stand the smell of it. I was happy when I opened SUN for the first time, it smells great, a very clean smell.
