Animal odors can range in severity and causes as well. From skunk spray to urine and feces, these odors can penetrate deep into fabrics, walls, carpet, and subfloors. Animal odors include carrion odors (dead body), such as those caused by an animal that dies in the attic or crawlspace and goes undetected for a long period of time.
Pet odor eliminator reviews from pet owners: “My 16 year old dog has accidents around the house fairly often even with a diaper on. He’s so old that he doesn’t realize he’s peeing sometimes. No other product as worked as well on my carpets so this…”
Every product will have the instructions on the bottle label, so make sure to follow those. However, the process is almost identical for all of them. Here are the six simple steps for the most effective way to get rid of dog urine stains and smell:
When a cat has urinated on hardwood, the cat urine has seeped deep into the floors. To neutralize the cat urine, you would need to apply the cat urine smell remover so that it would seep deep into the floors as well. Due to the possibility of warping, we just can’t safely recommend this.
We just got two kittens about a week and a half ago. They both use the litter box, but I noticed he doesn’t cover up. As I was cleaning today I’ve noticed cat pee and a lot of different places. I caught him tonight peeing on my daughter’s bed, a mink blanket I got in Korea. He is only 7 to 9 weeks old and we got him from the animal shelter. Do you think it’s because he’s still young and having accidents or could there possibly be something else? Everything else about him is great. Oh, we do have 2 dogs but they are separated by a baby gate so they can see each other but not so much interaction just yet.
Incontinence as part of aging is another obvious reason for your cat to urinate outside of the litter box. You can help to make this situation easier on your cat by adding more litter boxes around the home. You might also consider laying down disposable absorbent pads in the frequently – soiled areas.
If some stubborn soda still remains after you vacuum once, spay a light mist of vinegar and water over it to re-wet the baking soda, and place a dry rag over the area for another hour or two until it dries again. Then vacuum a second time.
Once the area looks clean, it’s time to eliminate the odor. Make a DIY pet stain-odor remover with a few tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and a drop or two of dish liquid. Pour the mixture onto the stained area (to be safe, text the mixture on a spot of the carpet that is hidden or out of the way to ensure that it doesn’t discolor the carpet).
Baking soda. With baking soda you won’t have any residue or lingering scent. Baking soda is clean, safe, deodorizes, and is quite effective at removing odors. Sprinkle baking soda liberally over the carpet then take a broom or carpet rake (or something similar) and gently work the baking soda down into the carpet. Allow this to sit on the carpet for hours, over night, or even a couple of days if possible. Vacuum thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.
Most every day cleaning solutions that we use will get rid of the main onset and effects of pet odor, but generally this will only work for a limited amount of time by overpowering it with a different scent or chemicals, but it is difficult to mask the odor completely. Over time most people find that things will still smell of pet odor, even after they have been cleaned and sprayed with a deodorizer. Air fresheners and aerosols only mask the smell of pet odor for the short term and are not effective at completely ridding the home of the smell.
Each situation is different.  Depending on how much Aveho is applied and how stinky the environment, Aveho has the capacity to continue to remove malodors for significant time frames.  Aveho is water soluble, and may be washed away by water.
Step 3.  Apply a handful of baking soda over the affected area. Mix a quarter of a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent (dish soap) and drizzle this solution over the baking soda. Alternatively you can use a spray bottle for the hydrogen peroxide solution.

By the way… I have a cat who pees on laundry if it is left on the floor… the littler box can be completely clean & she is in perfect health she is just a dominant cat and this is her way of saying that something is out of place and needs to be corrected (yes, I still consider her a good cat, she has a valid reason for what she did, lol!).
Anyone with small children, pets, or a smoker in the house knows all too well that room deodorizers and air fresheners only mask the smell temporarily and don’t solve your real air cleaning needs. You’re left buying more and more and more to constantly mask offending odors. To gain fresh, clean air, the odors in your home must be neutralized and cleaned completely. Odors like strong cooking smells, chemical fumes, and tobacco smoke are particularly dangerous for people with asthma, allergies, COPD, or MCS. As the air reaches the lungs, these bothersome odors and fumes trigger allergic and asthmatic reactions.
Using small piece of soap and a bit of water make a cleaning soapy liquid. The resulting soapy liquid is applied on the smelling surface. Wait for approximately 10 minutes. With the wet sponge remove the remaining soap and wash the spot.

Jennifer, thank you so much for the encouragement!! I’m sorry about your cat : ( I had a cat pass away a couple years ago and I STILL have dreams about her, I miss that silly girl. I currently have a calico named Meredith and she’s a little hellion but she’s precious. Good luck on your kitten search!
The smell in the grout has not returned. I find some products mask the odor for a while, but this is not a mask. The company owner told me that the formula separates the bonds of the molecular compounds that give off bad odors. There is a fresh smell to this product that lasts maybe a few hours. Then there is no smell at all.
Then, we apply our amazing odor removal product, P.U.R.T., to each stain. P.U.R.T. travels deep into the carpet pad and even the sub-floor reaching areas that typical cleaning products or process cannot reach.
In the laundry, if you use any form of vinegar it can set most stains (although not cat urine). My daughter has a respiratory condition and double lung transplant, so vinegar irritates her lungs, so I tend to use 2 or 3 scoops of Oxyclean (which is odourless, non-toxic and breaks down into hydrogen, water and oxygen in the environment) rather than vinegar in the laundry too, including to remove old cat urine and residual smells). I sometimes hang clothes outside to dry and the natural ozone of sunshine also helps remove odours. (Just don’t have someone with sensitive lungs fold laundry that was dried in sunlight, as the ozone that clings to the clothes for hours or even a couple of days is extremely harmful to lungs. That ozone smell comes in on the clean laundry, and is especially strong when the clothes have been drying outside in the winter and come in very cold. Further, if you have problems with the smell of clothes mold, persistent perfume, smoke, urine, or other intractable odours, the extra whammy of hanging outside, soaking in oxyclean for a few days, then washing in a strong solution of oxiclean and drying in sunshine usually eliminates it. I found that even clothes packed away for years did not develop the usual smell of clothes mold and yellow spots that most clothes develop in weeks or months of being packed away.
My neighbor can’t get her tiny yorkie trained so she stays in a fenced in area all the time and uses a disposable pad. I was using them too but when her dog visits (which is daily) she wasn’t using them, she would go all over the house. My sister told me she was started using large non disposable pads like the pads used in hospital beds. I tried it and both dogs are using it with no accidents. I just throw them in the washer with bleach. I think a little odor, that only the dogs smell, brings them back to it every time. They are very inexpensive and much cheaper than disposables.
It does have some shortcomings: this product works best on fresh stains. If you’re moving into a former hoarder’s abode with crystallized urine and ruined floorboards then it’s not going to be sufficient but if things are in decent shape right now and you want to keep them that way it’s perfect.
Vanessa Beaty, How is it a good idea to bathe a dog w/ peroxide? Why don’t you try pouring peroxide on your skin to test your “magic” solution out before you spew garbage disguised as advise like this ?
We have a little female Sheltie that has had repeated urinary infections therefore she has had those accidents we’ve been reading about. If you watch your dog while outside and they try to pee (males???) and nothing comes out, this may be a clue that they have some irritation. Get to the vet. Cleaning their bottoms occasionally with a baby wipe may keep the bacteria in-check.
