“best way to clean cat pee from carpet |dog urine”

Have your cat checked by the veterinarian. While accidents do happen, particularly with young or even elderly animals, there may be a medical issue at the heart of the problem if you notice your pet urinating inappropriately. Contact your veterinarian to discuss possible medical reasons that your cat is urinating outside of the litter box. Ignoring a medical issue, such as a urinary tract infection, kidney disease or diabetes, could be life threatening for your pet.
I recently cleaned out my closet, i keep my room closed and no cats allowed at all times. I gave a bag of clothes to a neighbor and she said she threw them away cause they smelled like cat pee. ugh. anyway now i feel the need to wash all the clothes i have. i realllllllllllly hope the ACV works. I have no clue why they would smell like cat pee, i highly doubt my cats are breaking in there and closing the door behind them. This apartment gets really damp when it rains maybe thats the issue. any good spray fresheners to use on the carpet or walls or wherever? i dont want the freshly washed clothes to just soak up the smell again.
Once the area looks clean, it’s time to eliminate the odor. Make a DIY pet stain-odor remover with a few tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide and a drop or two of dish liquid. Pour the mixture onto the stained area (to be safe, text the mixture on a spot of the carpet that is hidden or out of the way to ensure that it doesn’t discolor the carpet).
This is a product I will never be without. My cat pee’d on my carpet. After 5 steam cleanings with enzymatic cleaners it still smelled bad. I was to the point of tearing up the carpet and replacing the pad and carpet plus treating the sub floor with something when a friend recommended this. I used it last night, sprinkled it on, left a fan running over it overnight, vacuumed it up this morning and there is NO pee smell! Since my super power is my sense of smell this was amazing. My friend told me it may take several applications but it only took one. I did sprinkle a little more on and will leave it today. The only downside I see (and I think it’s because it’s in a high traffic area and I know several of my lovely offspring did walk on it) is that it tracked a bit and you need a really strong vacuum to suck it up, it goes deep into the carpet but that also means it gets where it needs to be. Very, very happy with this product.
If you’re faced with set-in stains or smells you can’t get rid of, it may be time to call in a professional, as sometimes spot-removal isn’t enough, Hatch said. “Unfortunately, urine doesn’t just stay at the top of carpet, it soaks into carpet padding and backing and can even soak into the sub floor,” he said. Spot cleaning can only get the urine at the face fibers of the carpet, and to truly remove the bacteria and the odors they can create, you’ll need a professional, he said.
Fortunately, there are several ways to neutralize the odor, including pantry staples like vinegar or baking soda and enzymatic cleaners. Many find that vinegar, while a bit smelly itself, works to remove the lasting odor of sprayed cat urine because vinegar is an acid that neutralizes the alkaline salts that form in dried urine stains. A solution of one part water and one part vinegar can be used to clean walls and floors. Proponents say that the vinegar smell subsides after a few days, taking the urine smell with it.
One of the nice things about this product is that it has Scotchguard built right into it, meaning that you get the cleaning and odor removal followed by a protective layer that will stay in place on the offending rug.
There aren’t many downsides to our furry friends. They provide us with a whole lot of joy, but an unfortunate side effect of living with them is the fact that we end up with both stains and odors that can get rather distasteful. Thankfully, there are a lot of ways to take care of them, so if you’ve been looking for a commercial solution to this nose hair burning and unsightly problem, we’re happy to present you with some solutions.
P.S. If you can, replace the litter boxes too and in the future use litter liners or just big, cheap trash bags to line the boxes so that the ammonia doesn’t soak into the plastic. I’ve found this helpful to control odors in my own home.
I tried the Nature’s Miracle Urine Destroyer. It certainly helped much more than the other two products I’ve tried. I had tried both normal Bissel carpet shampoo and the Hoover Petplus 2x odor remover solution; neither of them did a thing for the odor. While those two left no perfume reside, at least some of the area still smells of a mixture of non-objectionable perfume mixed with urine smell. – glenviewjeff Apr 2 ’14 at 14:28
To avoid the extremely strong odor of male cat urine, always have male cats neutered. Not only is the smell of their odor stronger, but un-neutered male cats also have tendencies to urinate in areas other than their litter boxes.[19]

Uric acid is not water-soluble and it bonds tightly to whatever it’s in contact with. It can’t be removed with soap, vinegar, baking soda, or hydrogen peroxide – all of which are commonly recommended for removing cat urine. While these solutions can temporarily remove the smell and even appear to be effective, they ultimately don’t break down the odor-releasing uric acid. As this uric acid lingers, it can continue to release the urine smell for years. This persistent odor, while not always detectable by the human olfactory sense, may cause your cat to return to the area repeatedly, perpetuating the issue

I have three Scotties. Cushing’s disease will cause a dog to pee a lot, drink a lot of water and you should check with your vet for diagnosis and medication. Currently have one that has it and previously had one that had it. Evidently it is fairly common in certain breeds. And urinary tract infections will also make doggies pee more frequently.
Hey so, I just wanted to say that the one you mix the baking soda and vinegar you are just making sodium acetate, water, and Co2. If you mix them in the bowl or sprayer before applying it you aren’t really doing anything. You just end up with a lot of water and a small amount of either baking soda or vinegar left over (whichever had too much for the reaction). Just wanted to point that out. It’s basic chemistry.
