“best way to clean urine from carpet -dog carpet”

To remove odors from sponges, you can run them through the washing machine or the dishwasher on the top rack. You could also soak them in one gallon of water and 2/3 cup of household bleach. Not only will this get rid of odors smell but it will also help to get rid of germs. Kitchen sponges should be changed often, regardless of how well you think you are sterilizing them.
When you take her outside to pee, try to train her to pee on command. When she does pee outside, lots of praise, lots of treats, lots of love, make the act of peeing outside the most magical thing ever.
Also, my situation is very dire. Our daughter developed an addiction to heroin and the past couple of years, we have become very neglectful to keeping the house clean. So I’m not dealing with day old odors, but years old. I don’t like to admit that because it’s a really embarrassing situation. It’s impossible to have people over to visit. Thank God for the anonymity of the internet so I can ask for help.
That’s a great question Gary. Regarding how to remove dog urine from carpet that has set in, we recommend the same products and techniques. People really rave about Nature’s Miracle and some members of our team have used it as well. We’ve read that it performs well for urine that has dried up, so I would recommend purchasing it and seeing how it works. Best of luck!

Thank you so much!!!!! I am having this problem with one of my dogs. We have been using the baking soda and that dries it up. We have tried all kinds of store bought sprays that promise to work, but none of them do work. The vinegar sounds perfect ( the way you explained it makes perfect sense.) I am going to start doing it today. I just stumbled on this, Thank God for that.
Once the spot is clean, apply a high-quality pet odor neutralizer (see below for our recommendations). Follow instructions carefully and test out a hidden area of the carpet to make sure the neutralizer doesn’t stain.
If your cat pees in your potted plant you can deter them by placing some pine cones on top of the soil. Commercial cat repellants are also available. Here are some home remedy tips to try to Stop Cat Peeing in Potted Plants
Getting Rid of The Musty Basement Smell – Older basements often have a thick and foul odor that is commonly described as “musty”. Although the smell is common we don’t usually think about the factors contributing to this unpleasant odor. Mold and mildew, water leaks, and poor air ventilation combine with odors from smoke, pets, old furniture, and…
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to put Stinkers! to the test on several occasions, and I wanted to share how well it performed in these five ultimately stinky situations (spoiler alert: AMAZING!):
Remember that cat urine stains are a bit like icebergs: you only see a small sample of what is there. While you might see a relatively small stain on the surface of the carpet, there is much more that’s already sunk deep into the pad. Even hard surfaces are porous enough for the urine to soak deep into. Truly cleaning a cat urine stain requires a generous application of the cleaning solution, so be sure to completely drench an area several inches larger than what’s visibly soiled. After you’ve completely saturated the area, cover the dampened surface. You can use anything to cover the surface – foil, a pan, a turned-over basket, or a box. The idea is to prevent your cat from urinating on the spot while the the cleaner is working, while also ensuring that no one steps or sits on the wet spot.
Also in some of the cardboard boxes he & his brother like to play in. Marco doesn’t pee outside litter but Izzy(the demon brother),seems to take pleasure in I am in the process of washing beds with your formula. Any thoughts why he pees in his own bed?
Not sure if I did something wrong, kind of hard to with 3 ingredients, however the baking soda did NOT dissolve in the peroxide even after shaking the bottle. I mixed it separately, then poured with a funnel into a spray bottle. It clogged the bottle. Found a larger one, and it seemed to work a little better, but still the baking soda did not completely dissolve. I sprayed some old spots my grandson had left and it lightened it a little but did not eliminate. Still smells unfortunately . Since the baking soda is not dissolving, I am basically just spraying Hydrogen Peroxide. Any tips ?
Open windows. There’s nothing like some nice, fresh breeze to air out bad smells. In spring, summer, and fall, open windows throughout the house to create a breeze that will blow fresh air in one window and bad smells out the other.[9]

If you can’t trust her loose in the home, kennel train her. Doggies don’t soil their den. You can also check her for Urinary Track infection if kennel training works when she is in there and not when she is loose, or take her out more often. Moving her outside is punishment that isn’t appropriate when training is required, or it’s a medical issue. Subjects her to varmints at night, mosquitos spreading heartworm disease, and possibly barking disturbing neighbors. Doggies don’t misbehave without something going on.
I actually like Nature’s Miracle as far as pet stain and smell removers go. You can get it in different strengths. If You’re finding that it’s a tough stain, you might want to try the version made for cat urine. Cat urine generally sticks around more than dog’s, so the kinds made to get rid of cat urine are stronger because of that.
I love your hub and I think you’re pretty awesome. I like your writing style and the fact that you love cats and you homeschool. 😉 My most amazing kitty who I loved massively died a few months ago. 🙁 I will get another one some day but not sure when. I guess I thought I might as well read your post since I do know the frustrations of cat pee issues. Great info and fun to read. You’re going to do well here. Thanks!
1) You might discolor your carpet – baking soda & vinegar. Think about it. It’s a paste that can interact with the chemistry of the carpet. Don’t believe me? Start reading through the comments. There are some people who say it works, but do you want to be one of the readers who was left with ruined carpet?
Water damage odors generally have a mildew smell from wet building contents. And the longer a structure is exposed to moisture, the more powerful the odor becomes. Water damage situations such as toilet overflows or sewage backups only compound the odor problem.
If you’ve had the good fortune of dealing with cat urine outside the litter box, you know that it is the most offensive and unpleasant excretions from a house pet. Not only does it make your eyes burn and your hair fall out, but the smell of cat urine causes cats to revisit the scene of the accident.
First, our trained professional will do an inspection of your carpets with a special ultraviolet light. This light exposes any problem areas and odorous urine deposits that may not be visible to the naked eye.
3) Install indoor/outdoor carpet. There are very nice indoor/outdoor carpets for very cheap. Less than a hundred dollars to do any room in your house and even if your animals are horrible, they don’t soak up smell like regular carpet.
White vinegar is great to get rid of some odors, though it isn’t always effective against cat and dog pee. Used straight from the bottle or diluted with water, white vinegar will help neutralize pet urine odors, and it won’t leave behind a sour vinegar smell.
This is a great product. I first used it twenty years ago when my parents German Shepherd tangled with a skunk… It solved the problem! I most recently used it when an aging pet had an issue with incontinence… Problem eliminated!
I use SCOE 10X which I can only buy online. Unlike others, it is probiotic based. Nothing else worked for dog urine odor. Be sure to soak thoroughly and then rinse thoroughly with a wet-dry vacuum and water, or it may pick up soil later. Normally this does not happen, it just depends on how much I have to use.
My daughter brought home a puppy for her birthday (a friend on her school bus surprised *her*), and we are *trying* to train him to go outside, but, more often than not, catch him going on throw rugs, or the laminate right after he’s been out. I use a diy mix to clean his messes, that has evolved since he got here, of vinegar, water, a little dish soap, now with added (just a little) bleach and Lysol.
One of the toughest stains to handle at home is a urine stain. Whether it’s a human or pet urine stain, the odor that comes with it is pretty unpleasant, right? Once that odor is there, don’t worry – your nose will let you know!
My cat Chancey a male never had a problem with urine till someone threw Smokey a female out of a window of a car and then I kept her; they say cats are territory and he is acting out you could say he is jealous;I clean the spot with peroxide dish soap and vinegar; when it is totally dry I then saturte the area with baking powder for 2 months and I cover the area with 2 garbage bags I leave the bags on if he pees again all you do is to wipe with paper towels ;and spray the mixture don’t smell a thing!
