I read this article and wanted to print it for a situation that we have here at our job with one of our employees (who has several cats and who brings their odors in with her). It is very offensive to our co-workers, and as her supervisor we’ve tried several things to eliminate the odor but nothing has worked so far. I need very badly to print this article but apparently the magazine holder is not allowing that so….

I am treating her with Crananidin and Cosequin every other day because when so took it every day her poop was like soft serve ice cream. Works great no more pee in the house. Consult you vet for proper dosage. Nutramax pharm.
A smelly room is embarrassing, and it can prevent you from enjoying your living spaces the way you should. The secret to deodorizing a room is first getting rid of the source of the odor, which you can do with thorough cleaning. After that, it’s just a matter of absorbing any lingering odors and choosing your favorite air freshener to make everything smell great again.
For the most part, these can be separated into hard and soft surfaces. What works well on carpet, for instance, might not be quite as good for tile or hardwood. The latter can be particularly problematic when it comes to picking out a good cleaner but enzymatic cleaners are quite often benign enough to not affect their finish.

Urine is composed of waste products including urea, uric acid, sodium chloride (salt), excess water and other waste. The immediate odor from urine comes from bacteria that feed on urine. Uric acid crystals (crystalized urine residue) often remain in porous surfaces, and will emit an “ammonia” odor with time. Humid conditions or wetting the surface can also reactivate the odor.
Find the soiled spot as quickly as possible. It can become extremely tricky to remove urine if your pet’s urine soaks deep into the upholstery and even into the wood frame. In most cases, you can spot the urine spot right away. If not, you can try:
It does flare up my asthma WHILE I spray it, but only because I am kneeling over the area and spraying a lot of volume. If I spray less or simply walk away for a few minutes it is fine. No need for hours of ventilation like Odoban or other stronger products….literally just a few minutes.
I have tried enzymatic cleaners (Nature’s miracle/Simple Solution/OUT/Bio-Kleen)… industrial cleaners (Odoban)… the originals (Resolve)… and while I do have my favorites among those, none really worked so fully and so safely as Rocco. I am absolutely stunned. This stuff couldn’t work better for my needs.
You can also try using a black fluorescent light. These lights will show stains on furniture, walls, or carpet as yellow spots. You can purchase a black light rather inexpensively from pet stores or online.[3]
If your specific issue is trying to remove pet urine odor, you’re in for another treat altogether. Did you know that cats are obligate carnivores? This means that hey HAVE to eat meat, ONLY meat. They do not need vegetables nor grains. Veterinarians sell foods with grains without even considering the physiology of felines, it’s absolutely horrible. Cat food manufacturers show pictures of healthy vegetables and grains on the bags of food people think it’s good for their cats, it’s not. I’m convinced that this bad diet, perpetuated by nearly everyone, is the cause of so many feline problems…UTIs, bladder issues, diabetes, etc.
Use baking soda. Baking soda is one of the most popular deodorizers around, because it’s effective and cheap. To absorb smells around the house, sprinkle some baking soda into a couple of small dishes or plates and distribute them around the house. The baking soda will absorb odors from the rooms and get rid of bad smells.[12]

I picked up this product from the store one day thinking it was such a great find, but sadly my expectations were not met. Shannon, I’ve used Simple Solution right in the wash. I’d take the comforter to a laundromat and use one of their great big machines. Often times the smaller machines can’t even get the entire comforter wet. They’re just too big. But yeah, I’d use a cup or so of an enzymatic cleaner in addition to your regular detergent and let it dry in the sun.
If you have a wood subfloor, remove the nails that keep the tack strips in place. If you have a concrete subfloor, you’ll find that removing the nails will leave large divots in the subfloor, which need to be filled in with spackling. To get around that, simply cut the nails flush with the floor with a multi-tool (e.g. Dremel).
“If there is not a medical problem and the problem truly is behavioral, early intervention is key,” George said. “Behavioral issues can sometimes be resolved by adding additional litter boxes around the home, scooping frequently to remove waste or by moving a litter box from one space in the home to another.”
If your home has pet odor problems, you’re in for one of the toughest odor removal projects known to man. That doesn’t mean you should give up hope. It just means that depending on the nature of the odor, and the material, this isn’t going to be an easy task.

There is a line that cannot be crossed when it comes to successfully decontaminating an area. It is critical that items that can’t be restored be removed and properly disposed of. If anything stays in the area that isn’t able to be thoroughly sanitized, leaving them can compromises the integrity of the entire area and poses health threats to anyone who comes in contact with the objects. Common items that may need to be discarded for safety might be couches, carpet, carpet padding, sub-flooring, and drywall. Each case is different and our cleanup team will determine what is appropriate for your specific circumstance and doing so will guarantee that safety has been restored.
