Hi I have a russian blue and I breed her, she has been good not excellent but manageable. Now that the kittens are bigger something came over her and she started urinating the couch (the kittens to)… Uuuf I took the cushion out and I washed it with vinegar and detergent that didn’t do it so I soakted it again in woter with white vinegar … One more after that … I don’t know how to get the smell out. Now don’t say neuter I have my breeding permit and all pedigree papers and I go to shows… So no offending OK. Thanks upfront for help. 😀
Eric, thanks for the suggestion, I will try that. As for the black light, I have three cats so not 100% sure which one has pee’d. But I suspect it might be my oldest cat, who is 19. She does have slightly lowered kidney function due to her age, and I take her to the vet 3-4 times a month to get additional fluids. So you may very well be right about her urine being diluted such that I can smell the stain but not see it with a black light. Just surprises me I wouldn’t see at least an faint outline, especially on items that smell strongly of urine. First I tried a small, bar shaped blacklight that came with one of the cleaners. I thought perhaps it was not powerful enough so ordered another blacklight that is like a flashlight in design and supposed to be much stronger. Neither seems to show any stain, either on the blankets or on the canvas bag. Strange, but I guess I will just trust my nose to treat the areas!
Obviously the best long-term solution is to get the little guy going potty outside. I am not sure what your process is, but adding the use of a crate/kennel (or in your case pen) to the regime can be helpful, in addition to positive re-enforcement. It’s a total pain, but it really cuts down on the accidents and is worth it in the long run. So for example as soon as the puppy wakes up, take him outside to go potty. If he goes throw a party and have a little play session. If he doesn’t go within 5 minutes or so, bring him back inside and place him in his pen-there isn’t any fun time until his business is done. Anywhere from 5-15 minutes later repeat the above process. When does go, he gets let out to play run around etc. etc. but not before. Again it’s a hassle, but it really cuts down on missing any accidents in hidden places, and they pick up quick on the positive re-enforcement and learn to hurry up and potty so they can play!
First and obligatory action is immediately after noticing to remove a significant amount of moisture with a sponge and then to start washing the spot with the solution of water and vinegar. Some people just dilute the vinegar with the water in a ratio 1:3 but there are several opinions on this subject. We can try also to prepare the smell cleaning liquid in a different way.
We also know that every pet owner has experienced the embarrassment of their furry friend greeting a guest with a less than welcoming scent. At OdorKlenz we understand that even the best pets bring some extremely unpleasant odors into our homes and lives. We don’t judge the odors; we just get rid of them safely and effectively!
Incontinence as part of aging is another obvious reason for your cat to urinate outside of the litter box. You can help to make this situation easier on your cat by adding more litter boxes around the home. You might also consider laying down disposable absorbent pads in the frequently – soiled areas.
The company is pretty awesome too. They sent two emails, one with information about the product and a thank you, and the second with very detailed instructions and info about their money back guarantee.

Tammy, it sounds to me like you’re doing exactly the right thing. And yes, the cat may get upset, and maybe a little stressed (especially for the first couple days) but… too bad. She’ll get used to it. No one would blame you for this. Just make sure you put something soft in there for her to sleep on.
While commercial products offer a lot of advantages, there are a couple of ways that you can take care of things yourself without investing in a product. They might not be quite as efficacious but it’s always good to save a bit of cash.
I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I leave him at home he pees in the house: on the carpet, on the bed, on flowers..

I am wondering my last resort is to quarantine her to one room with litter, food/water, toys, bed to help her reacquaint herself with the litter. My question about that is, will she be upset and more stressed? Firstly, she will be locked up in the room when we are gone to work and school, no access to the rest of the house as she normally does. Secondly we are moving her “room” to another part of the house. I cant keep cleaning after her, but I don’t want to stress her more PLEASE HELP!!
Getting Rid of The Musty Basement Smell – Older basements often have a thick and foul odor that is commonly described as “musty”. Although the smell is common we don’t usually think about the factors contributing to this unpleasant odor. Mold and mildew, water leaks, and poor air ventilation combine with odors from smoke, pets, old furniture, and…

This is a product I will never be without. My cat pee’d on my carpet. After 5 steam cleanings with enzymatic cleaners it still smelled bad. I was to the point of tearing up the carpet and replacing the pad and carpet plus treating the sub floor with something when a friend recommended this. I used it last night, sprinkled it on, left a fan running over it overnight, vacuumed it up this morning and there is NO pee smell! Since my super power is my sense of smell this was amazing. My friend told me it may take several applications but it only took one. I did sprinkle a little more on and will leave it today. The only downside I see (and I think it’s because it’s in a high traffic area and I know several of my lovely offspring did walk on it) is that it tracked a bit and you need a really strong vacuum to suck it up, it goes deep into the carpet but that also means it gets where it needs to be. Very, very happy with this product.

Happy New Year & Happy New Year Smells – The holidays are over, the guests are gone and the sweet smell of pine has left our homes as we get ready to settle into a long winter of stale, cold air. There is no time like the present to freshen the air you breathe inside your home, your car,…
If you go to a horse store, you can get some stall neutralizer that works for the rocks. I live in the desert and so I really do not have grass. I sprinkle this every so often and it helps immensely. It will come in a 40 lb bag and it is safe for pets.
To remove cat urine odor from a carpet you can spray a mixture of vinegar and warm water onto the affected area, though you may sometimes need to peel the carpet back and spray underneath it as well. Make you home smell fresh again with the aid of this free video on carpet cleaning.
Rinse the stained area with water and blot using a towel. If you have a hairdryer, try drying the carpet with it for a few minutes.  The vinegar smell may stick around for up to a few days, but then the urine smell will disappear.
Finding the source of the smell is easily done using a black light. he urine will glow a fluorescent yellowish green color. Look on walls too, as high up as eye level. Sometimes cats can spray this far up. Urine has an enzyme which is not easily washed away. I have had great results with white vinegar, soap and water. The vinegar kills or removes the enzyme. (Carpeting may need extra shampooing with the vinegar, due to deep fibers holding onto urine.)
It shouldn’t- the kind you get at the stores is usually 3% dilute. Professional carpet cleaners usually use it at around 10%. Just make sure to always test for color fastness no matter what you decide to try 🙂
How to know that the dog urine stain is definitely gone? Because it’s the bacteria for dog’s urine that causes the bad smell, obviously you won’t be able to see it. Thus, after you’ve treated the area, get a UV blacklight (pet urine detector) and light the area. A well-treated area with the best pet odor eliminator should pass the UV detector test.
