“best carpet cleaner for cat urine -remove urine vinegar baking soda”

Hello. I have a multi cat apartment and just recently realized there is a smell. I’m not sure if it’s urine or spray or a mixture. How can I get this smell out of my wood floors, tiles and in the air? Thank you!
Ah how I can relate to this scenario! After almost 30 foster dogs coming through my house (most not housebroken to start with) I know the battle with lingering odor well-and the frustration of having the dog go outside only to come in and find a blanket or rug to go on. And that feeling of never having your house clean! If none of the above cleaners work for you, you can always try a commercial product (of course natural is best!)-if you go that route I would recommend Biokleen Bac-out. I wish I had a magic solution, but cleaners aside, maybe I can offer some advice that can help.
Using small piece of soap and a bit of water make a cleaning soapy liquid. The resulting soapy liquid is applied on the smelling surface. Wait for approximately 10 minutes. With the wet sponge remove the remaining soap and wash the spot.
The first step in removing the odor of burned food is to open the windows; this lets air circulate. The fresh air comes in, helping the burnt smell fade away. There are several other options that move the process along. A burnt smell is typical when food is seriously overcooked.
Do not use Hydrogen Peroxide that is higher in concentrate than 3%. Bleaching may occur on some carpets with a stronger solution. Read the label on the Hydrogen Peroxide carefully. The label will state the strength.
My dog had an accident in the bedroom so I pulled back the carpet cut out the underlay washed it thoroughly with normal washing detergent bleached the floorboards then laid a bin bag on the floorboards with some kitchen towels on top I placed the carpet back down and rinsed the carpet through with warm water and washing detergent replacing the towels as i went along until they were clear and the urine had gone after scrubbing and soaking up the water the smell has now gone the underlay is back down with the carpet and there is no stain or smell in sight
Whoa! Quick update — here’s the importance of doing a test swatch and letting it sit. My couch is still completely fine, I did a test spot and let it sit for over 12 hours and there was no discoloration but some of the solution overflowed I nto my jute rug without me noticing and now there’s a bleached spot where the solution drench it. So test test test before you use! You never know what will bleach and what won’t. And don’t seal it closed unless you’re using it. Time to flip the rug…

Cats may spray for territorial reasons or when they feel anxious or threatened. The presence of stray cats in your yard may cause your cat to mark near windows and doors as a way to identify that this is his territory. New pets in the household, or a conflict between existing pets in the same household, may also make pets feel a need to mark their territories. Changes in your cat’s environment, such as rearranging his living space or moving to a new home, can add stress and induce marking. Occasionally, the spraying cat may target the clothing or bedding of a person or visitor in the house.
If you wish to keep your cat away from certain areas that are at risk from your cat’s urination such as sofas, beds, rooms etc then I recommend a product called SSScat. It is a motion activated spray which delivers a noisy burst of air to frighten your cat away from an area. It is completely safe and harmless.  Now watch this video of SSScat in action. You can usually purchase it on ebay.
10. Grab a paper towel, and try to blot up as much of the urine as possible. If it’s a large spot and you don’t want to waste paper towels, use a cloth towel or old clothes that can be thrown away. If the spot is on the carpet, stand on the wet spot (remember to wear shoes).
The service told me they would come back out believe it or not – for a 3rd time. (Free of charge) They are sending someone else. I guess they are going to blacklight everything again and if nothing is showing up on the surface, they will perform some kind of moisture testing. Told me that if it is in the pad of the carpet they are able to pull up those areas and replace sections of the pad. Really hoping the carpet doesn’t need to go. Nothing is visible and it is certainly much better, but I am ready for my house to smell fresh again. (and be sanitary of course) Hopefully the third visit will be a charm. They have actually been very understanding – thank goodness.
Most every day cleaning solutions that we use will get rid of the main onset and effects of pet odor, but generally this will only work for a limited amount of time by overpowering it with a different scent or chemicals, but it is difficult to mask the odor completely. Over time most people find that things will still smell of pet odor, even after they have been cleaned and sprayed with a deodorizer. Air fresheners and aerosols only mask the smell of pet odor for the short term and are not effective at completely ridding the home of the smell.
Act quickly! If you can get to the wee whilst it is still wet, the job is so much easier. If you can remove the majority of the urine right away, bacteria do not get a hold and it is the bacteria which cause the worst of the smell, not the urine itself.
2. A friend of mine gave me a concoction of orange essential oils, and tea tree oil to spray to keep her off the bed. No word of a lie, I sprayed to moisten the area and she jumped up and layed down in it. It didn’t even phase her! She urinated on the bed.
We have only had good results with the enzyme based Natures Miracle product in the red sprsy bottle, unless it has been changed . Their aerosol can carpet product uses a strong masking perfume abd we do not recommend that version.
Put a washable cover on furniture. Your pet may have proudly claimed an armchair or a spot on the couch as their own. This special space, or any other furniture where your pet lounges, will need frequent washing to keep the odors at bay. If your pets spend a lot of time on your furniture, it’s a good idea to invest in washable covers like slip covers. That way, you don’t have to worry about the hassle of vacuuming and scrubbing your furniture. Instead, just throw the cover in the wash.
Once you have got the area as dry as you can, liberally sprinkle on ordinary baking soda, again working it into the fibers of the carpet with your fingertips (don’t forget the rubber gloves!), or an old, soft toothbrush.
This is a great, all around solution to anything which you might face as a result of your animals lack of training or illness. It’s an enzymatic cleaner which scores top points from us for its ability to be used anytime, anywhere to make short work of even the toughest stains and the foulest odors.

Here is my magic method that has taken me over a year to come up with, the only thing that works for me. Also note that I have the tried the same method with other cleaners, and SUN is the key to it working for me. Like I said, I have hardwood floors and this product does not damage them. Using a paper towel I dry the urine up completely. Then I lay dry paper towels over the entire area where there was urine. After mixing my SUN solution up (I make it strong using less water) I pour it all over the paper towels until they are completely saturated with the solution. I have an oscillating fan that I put on the floor and point toward the wet paper towels. I leave it there all day or until they are dry. Once dry, I discard the dried paper towels, then I lay more dry paper towels down and I repeat the whole process one more time. Well- la, that’s it. Every now and then I will spray some more SUN solution to that area and wipe it down just to keep up with it. This really works for me. Trust me, I have been to the point where I was in tears and spending tons of money to try and fix the problem. Since the reason my cat does this is behavioral and there isn’t a medical reason why she does it (as said by my vet after running several tests, food changes, new litter boxes, calming collars, calming spray, and the list goes on), I keep at least one of these bottles handy at all times in case there is another occurrence.
Some cleaning products work better than others depending on the type of carpet you have, such as natural versus synthetic fibers. the label on these products to find the one that can best remove dog or pet urine odor from carpet.
Add a bit of bleach into the water (ratio of 1:10) and stir it. Apply the resulting mixture on the spot where your dog left some pee. In 20 minutes wash the whole surface or even the whole carpet with the water.
Hey, this may be a bit late for the one commenter talking about pee soaked plywood subflooring but maybe it can help someone else in the future. After treating plywood with vinegar, bleach, whatever else, let it dry thoroughly and then use Killz primer on it. Do a couple of coats. This will seal the plywood and hel prevent any residual urine smell from coming up through new carpeting.

I would like to thank you for this amazing remedy! I have two male dogs that were having a marking war in my living room and I like everyone else here had used countless products to get rid of the smell to no avail. The final straw was today when I cleaned my carpets and could smell nothing but the urine smell in that area. Then I looked up “natural home remedies for pet stains” and came up with your website. The solution of peroxide and dish detergent on top of the baking soda hasn’t even dried yet and my house smells WONDERFUL again. I will no longer be embarrassed to have people over to hang out!!
