Hello. I have a multi cat apartment and just recently realized there is a smell. I’m not sure if it’s urine or spray or a mixture. How can I get this smell out of my wood floors, tiles and in the air? Thank you!
I own a cat that my girlfriend claims is a bit of a male diva. What I try and explain to her is that cats are, by default, emotionally demanding, masters of creating unnecessary drama, fussy over their appearance, and basically can make the world revolve around them.
3. When the area has dried or almost dried sprinkle a handful or two of baking soda over the soiled area. Mix half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of detergent. Plain liquid dishwashing detergent like Palmolive is quite suitable. Do not use dishwasher detergent like Cascade.  Put on a pair of plastic gloves and slowly pour the hydrogen peroxide and detergent mixture over the baking soda. Work the dissolving baking soda into the carpet with your fingers or with a scrubbing brush. Allow the area to dry completely and then vacuum thoroughly.

Absorb smells with a deodorizer. There are lots of deodorizers that can target pesky pet smells. You can purchase one from the store, or make your own if you’re feeling crafty and thrifty. Two of the most popular items are baking soda and vinegar, which you can spray around the house, on carpets, on beds, and elsewhere to help remove smells. To make your own deodorizers:
Odor Elimination Tips for Your Home – Does your home or maybe even your car just plain smell bad? Do you dread the thought of family and friends coming over and smelling the odor as soon as they walk in? The smell could be caused by a number of things such as bacteria, mold, residual cooking odors,…
This is a concentrated mixture, so make sure to follow the directions otherwise you may risk a bit of damage to your carpet. It’s also really only usable on carpet, so even if you mix a spray bottle of the stuff you’re not going to get ahead much on hard surfaces.
A: To get rid of the smell of mold, you must first locate the origin of the smell. Throw out items that hold mildew spores, such as cardboard, paper and old fabrics and upholstered furniture, and thoroughly wash the area using a water and bleach solution. Leave an open baking soda box in the area to eliminate any leftover smell, and use a dehumidifier to prevent moisture from collecting in the air and creating more mildew.
The Small Hard Surface Cleaning System I is intended for the removal of dog, or cat, or human urine odors ONLY in hard surfaces such as concrete, etc. If cleaning porous surfaces, first use the Prove-It Kit.
A: Keep your clothes smelling fresh without adding a lot of time to the normal laundry routine. Purchase a lemon, white vinegar and borax to help eliminate odors. Borax is located with the laundry detergent.

Find out why your pet is urinating inappropriately. Often, inappropriate urination can be a sign of a urinary tract infection or other illness. It can also be caused by stress or fear. Observe your pet and take it to the vet to eliminate any health problems it might have.
My dog had an accident in the bedroom so I pulled back the carpet cut out the underlay washed it thoroughly with normal washing detergent bleached the floorboards then laid a bin bag on the floorboards with some kitchen towels on top I placed the carpet back down and rinsed the carpet through with warm water and washing detergent replacing the towels as i went along until they were clear and the urine had gone after scrubbing and soaking up the water the smell has now gone the underlay is back down with the carpet and there is no stain or smell in sight
Soak the area with an enzymatic cleaner for 15 minutes. These products, available at any pet store, contain biological enzymes that break down the proteins in urine. They are the smartest thing to remove the smell of fresh cat pee.
Ok I have a 7 year old female dog and she never urinated in the house but now is doing it and pooping too!! My dinning room area smells the urine, that’s her favorite spot. Will this ursine truly help get rid of smell and bigger question will it stop her from going back to those spots to pee?
Cleaning, cleaning, and yet more cleaning essential. Experts suggest using the deodorizing schedule in this article, daily, for two to three weeks after the cat used it as a toilet. Also, put the cat’s food in the same location as she’s less likely to soil where she eats. Alternatively, put a litter box on the same spot.
Rachel, those things work great and there are enzymatic cleaners designed for use in them. I’ve always just used the ones you can rent from hardware stores so I don’t really have any brand suggestions for you. Honestly, I’d just check Amazon and start reading reviews. Good luck!
The first step in removing the odor of burned food is to open the windows; this lets air circulate. The fresh air comes in, helping the burnt smell fade away. There are several other options that move the process along. A burnt smell is typical when food is seriously overcooked.
You love your pets. You love your carpets. Unfortunately the two don’t co-exist well. Knowing how to get pet stains out of carpet is a key a skill for dog and cat owners. Here’s how to clean some of the most common messes caused by your animals.
After many years of pet ownership and trying various brands, I found this brand several years ago and have been sticking with it ever since. I would warn anyone with sensitivities however, it has an extremely strong deodorizing scent while wet; hard to describe, but the fragrance is almost overwhelming, somewhere between perfumey and detergent-like. BUT: It works, so I keep buying it despite the strong scent. It doesn’t just mask the urine odor either, it genuinely seems to eliminate it and once the product dries the odor isn’t overwhelming anymore and the urine smell is gone. I have a senior-aged kitty who suffers from Urinary Tract Disease and he goes outside the box when it’s acting up and he’s in discomfort. I’ve tried many other brands offering various promises and none that I’ve tried work as well as this. You pour it on the stain and leave it to dry, very easy. It warns to test for color fastness but I’ve never had any issues with it on surfaces or fabrics. I particularly like it for my unfinished hardwood floors because it’s otherwise impossible to clean into the floor boards with any degree of success when cat urine odor is involved. So I just pour this in the cracks and leave it. As a further testament, just this last week I ran out and of course that’s when my cat had an accident. After scrubbing and scrubbing I thought I might have to throw away my area rug because I could still smell it and it had dried days before my order for this bottle arrived. But sure enough, I poured it on the area where the urine odor was still strong and now it’s gone, so it apparently works great even if the stain isn’t fresh.
