After many years of pet ownership and trying various brands, I found this brand several years ago and have been sticking with it ever since. I would warn anyone with sensitivities however, it has an extremely strong deodorizing scent while wet; hard to describe, but the fragrance is almost overwhelming, somewhere between perfumey and detergent-like. BUT: It works, so I keep buying it despite the strong scent. It doesn’t just mask the urine odor either, it genuinely to eliminate it and once the product dries the odor isn’t overwhelming anymore and the urine smell is gone. I have a senior-aged kitty who suffers from Urinary Tract Disease and he goes outside the box when it’s acting up and he’s in discomfort. I’ve tried many other brands offering various promises and none that I’ve tried work as well as this. You pour it on the stain and leave it to dry, very easy. It warns to test for color fastness but I’ve never had any issues with it on surfaces or fabrics. I particularly like it for my unfinished hardwood floors because it’s otherwise impossible to clean into the floor boards with any degree of success when cat urine odor is involved. So I just pour this in the cracks and leave it. As a further testament, just this last week I ran out and of course that’s when my cat had an accident. After scrubbing and scrubbing I thought I might have to throw away my area rug because I could still smell it and it had dried days before my order for this bottle arrived. But sure enough, I poured it on the area where the urine odor was still strong and now it’s gone, so it apparently works great even if the stain isn’t fresh.
We just got two kittens about a week and a half ago. They both use the litter box, but I noticed he doesn’t cover up. As I was cleaning today I’ve noticed cat pee and a lot of different places. I caught him tonight peeing on my daughter’s bed, a mink blanket I got in Korea. He is only 7 to 9 weeks old and we got him from the animal shelter. Do you think it’s because he’s still young and having accidents or could there possibly be something else? Everything else about him is great. Oh, we do have 2 dogs but they are separated by a baby gate so they can see each other but not so much interaction just yet.
There is a strong, legitimate, and chemically important reason to use an enzyme cleaner to clean cat urine stains. Home-made mixtures or typical household cleaners simply do not contain the required ingredients to remove ALL the components of cat urine. Vinegar and baking soda work to neutralize the odor temporarily, and hydrogen peroxide is 30% more oxidizing than chlorine. But cat urine is composed of things that REQUIRE enzymes to break down the chemical bonds.
While enzyme cleaners come in a spray bottle, spraying a light coat over the stain won’t do much. Instead, remove the sprayer and douse the spot liberally.  Let the cleaner sit for 10 to 15 minutes and blot up as much of it as possible with a clean cloth. To keep the cat from returning to the spot during the cleaning process, place a piece of aluminum foil or an aluminum baking sheet over the area, or cover it with an upside-down laundry basket. You may need to reapply the cleaner to the area and let it dry again for older or particularly odorous stains.
EXACTLY, some people have to put their 2cents worth in even if it’s bad mouth language, don’t they………. my mom used to call that “potty mouth”….. She obviously did something wrong cause I have used this before and it works fine for me……………
Well, my puppy started pottying on my new carpet after a few months, for some reason. I clean the spots by first soaking it all up with paper towels, then using OUT. I also used my carpet cleaner machine. However, I went back with the black light and the spots are still showing up just as bright. I’m sick. What to do?
When the odor of decomposition seems too overwhelming for you to manage, you have other resources. Aftermath, founded in 1996, is a national bioremediation company with more than 32 regional and mobile offices.
To remove odors from sponges, you can run them through the washing machine or the dishwasher on the top rack. You could also soak them in one gallon of water and 2/3 cup of household bleach. Not only will this get rid of odors smell but it will also help to get rid of germs. Kitchen sponges should be changed often, regardless of how well you think you are sterilizing them.
You love your cat. Of course! But that love could be tested just a bit when you walk into a room and are greeted by the unmistakable smell of cat urine. Why did he do it? How do you get rid of it? And — how do you prevent him from doing it again? Here’s how to clean up cat urine in 3 places: carpet, non-carpet surfaces and bedding.
There is also one trick which can helpful if you want to prevent repetition of the odor problem. If your dog is constantly peeing in the place you can sprinkle few drops of essential oil of apple, cinnamon or eucalyptus. This pleasant for human smell dogs do not like at all.

This solution works great for clothes: 1 scoop Gain with Febreze, 1 cup borax, and 1 capful Febreze In Wash Odor Eliminator. Put the clothes in the washing machine and pour most of the list directly in the (cold) water steam as your washer fills, and a little directly on the clothes. Run on heavy soil and enjoy fresh smelling clothes free of cat urine smell!
Shannon, I’ve used Simple Solution right in the wash. I’d take the comforter to a laundromat and use one of their great big machines. Often times the smaller machines can’t even get the entire comforter wet. They’re just too big. But yeah, I’d use a cup or so of an enzymatic cleaner in addition to your regular detergent and let it dry in the sun.
The Small Hard Surface Cleaning System I is intended for the removal of dog, or cat, or human urine odors ONLY in hard surfaces such as concrete, etc. If cleaning porous surfaces, first use the Prove-It Kit.
