I used to run 3 subsidised housing complexes. Got tired of tenant after tenant getting charged for the same damages… So I got my carpet guy to teach me how to remove 99% of all stains and odors. This is a slow process, but very effective. Take a used steam iron… fill with water and heat. Get a white towel. ONLY a white towel. Dyed towels may bleed colors. Soak white towel to drippy wet. Use clean water or your favorite cleaner. Put the dripping towel over the stain/odor. Sit the hot iron on the wet towel. Watch carefully for the grunge to show on the towel. Keep rinsing out the towel. Keep putting steam iron on towel over damaged spot. Rinse iron and towel as needed. Repeat until no scent or stains appear. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED. If so you may burn or damge carpet. I have gotten blood, urine, kool aid, wine and ink out this way…. many many times. Didnt work on mustard.

“After seventeen years experience in the cleaning business, I have found OdorKlenz treatment effectiveness’ far beyond normal chemical process capabilities currently available to the professional carpet cleaning industry.”
Quick question for you – do you have a recommendation for an odor removing recipe that can be used in a carpet shampoo vacuum? I do not want to buy a regular shampoo from the store as my vet told me it does not remove the urine smell and that animals will still be attracted and potty on the carpet as long as I use a regular shampoo.
Our cat throws up….a LOT. we’re in a rental and moving at the end of August. I was thinking we’d lose our deposit because of these stains, but now I’m thinking maybe not!! Claire, thank you! I’m trying this right now!
urine can penetrate the face fibers, also the backing which is plastic.sometimes with a big pet it can reach down to the pad and the subfloor wood or concrete.first pull carpet off of tack strip check to see if urine has gone into the plastic or back of carpet.if you see or smell it there but not in padding or concrete then apply a enzyme treatment to it and extract the urine with a extractor.flip carpet back down onto tack strips and apply to fibers on top carpet rinse with extractor.dry carpet with high speed air mover.if the urine soaks padding remove and discard.apply enzyme to subfloor clean and extract and dry out
As for rented apartments.. mmm keep cleaning.. or ask your landlord if you can replace the carpet with something else. Its in their interests to say yes really because if it smells of pee when you move out, though they will take your deposit, they still have to get a replacement put in..
Hey so, I just wanted to say that the one where you mix the baking soda and vinegar you are just making sodium acetate, water, and Co2. If you mix them in the bowl or sprayer before applying it you aren’t really doing anything. You just end up with a lot of water and a small amount of either baking soda or vinegar left over (whichever had too much for the reaction). Just wanted to point that out. It’s basic chemistry.
When diet is the cause of ammonia-smelling urine, the odor disappears once a person eliminates food triggers from their diet. Odor caused by something a person has eaten is usually nothing to worry about.

Thus, if you’re a woman who has been noticing a fishy smell coming from your urine, this unpleasant fishy odor is actually emanating from your vagina, and you should be checked by your gynecologist for a vaginal infection.

By doing this, you can help to make sure the stain is taken care of quickly and efficiently rather than making things worse. It might be tempting to just pull out your expensive carpet cleaner for pets, but you can really minimize the chance of permanent staining by doing this.

Replace the padding underneath. For stubborn stains that you suspect may have soaked through the carpet into the padding, replacing the padding itself will help a lot. Pull up the carpet, cut a sample of the padding and bring it to a home improvement store to find padding of equal thickness. Cut out the stained padding and replace it with a piece of the new padding.
If the urine has soaked into the padding under your carpet, you may have no choice but to replace that area of the carpet and padding. Once the carpet pad is wet it is extremely difficult (if not impossible) to clean and dry it.
I bought this awesome machine on 8-14-2017 I absolutely love it , works super well on the high traffic areas hallways and the whole carpet for that matter , I like the fact that it keeps the water pretty hot I was looking for a carpet cleaner to clean my carpets they were pretty dirty and not cleaned for 2 years and it made them look new after I was done its easy to setup and use I love the attachments and its easy to drain the waste water tank and replace it back where it goes the machine is not heavy for me and it is easy to push and its not as loud as many other machines I have had in the past and the price was in my budget I got it on sale at local Walmart for $172.22 so I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a great carpet cleaner
I have a female pitbull who is somewhat trained, and by that I mean she does well when I’m awake and goes to the restroom when I take her outside but during the night when I sleep she gets up without me noticing and uses the restroom on my carpet. She used to cry when she needed out but has recently stopped and left me with surprises in the morning. I’ve recently moved her to outside and I hate it because she is my sleeping buddy. What should I do?
Important: It is better to wash the spot few times until you will use the carpet again. If the spot will remain smelling urine it will just attract dog and he will pee on the same spot again and again.
3. Works very well at stain removal using just the beater bar/floor tool and no attachment/hand held for tough foot traffic stains. I have not used it to remove set in pet stains so far as I use a “cat urine” eliminator “Get Serious” to remove the cat urine smell and it also removes the stains. I haven’t tried to remove old urine stains yet with it since I have none after having used GET SERIOUS. It does remove yellowed spots where I have allowed the cat urine to set for long periods (because it was behind a piece of furniture that only gets moved once a month when we move it to vac under it), but a month is hardly time to judge a yellow urine stain as “set in”. I have removed brown rust colored stains that the last professional carpet shampooer company “brought up” (Funny, they were in the middle of an open room and at the base of our stairs where no stain was prior to their coming and the stain wasn’t there until we refused for the umpteenth time their attempt to up-sell us on worthless products!!) and I had previously been unable to get that stain out using my Little Green Machine without it coming back up to the surface after a few weeks. I have only had this machine two weeks and have used it on the room 3 times in order to do a deep thorough clean and also to try and get some pet hair out. I have used it in “spots”, too but only a total room clean 3 times.
Please don’t keep a pit outdoors. They need their people. You can use a puppy pad and train her to use it. I use adult human incontinence pads – the extra large size for my dog. They’re cheaper than the specialty dog ones. The other option is to check out eBay or Amazon for doggie diapers. They come in a disposable type and various cloth versions where you put a pad in it. The pet stores carry them, too, but they’re more expensive. Keep your dog sleeping beside you.
Pick up the phone any time you see a change in your pee that doesn’t seem linked to new medications or a recent meal — especially if the change lasts more than a day or so, or if it comes with a fever, back or side pain, vomiting, feeling very thirsty, or discharge. Your doctor can test your urine to see what’s going on.
One possible cause that i haven’t seen here is that you dog/puppy may have diabetes. My puppy was not getting house trained so i took her to the vet to only find you she was very sick. If you still have problems contact a vet/trainer for help.

The fact that this one is designed specifically with pet hair and urine stains in mind makes it a wonderful addition to the home of any pet owner. It also comes with a portable spot cleaner for those areas where you can’t run the full upright.
Vacuum up any loose debris from the area that will be treated. Wet the area to be treated with clean, warm water. Using your vacuum or carpet extractor wet extraction capabilities, clean the are 2-3 times, leaving the area damp. Pour OdorKlenz Pet Urine Eliminator on the treatment area. Spread the OdorKlenz Pet Urine Eliminator on the treatment area. Spread the OdorKlenz Pet Urine Eliminator into the area working it deeply into the carpet or covering surface completely.
Apply another towel and absorb the cleaner. After soaking the spot with cleaning, follow the same procedure as with the first absorbing, and put a fresh towel over the enzymatic cleaner to absorb it and thoroughly cleanse the area. Weight the towel with a heavy object and leave it alone.
First off, let me start by saying, I have 4 cats, a Labrador retriever and 2 male humans that also live inside the house with me. The main “mess” is the oldest female cat, who hates anything but herself, so she pees on the carpet. If you put a clean, new cat box where she pees, she will pee next to it or make a new spot elsewhere. She was born and spent the first 4 months of her life in a cage in the pound so she has “issues”, we will leave it at that. No one else soils the carpet only she does. Unless they are “sick”. ‘Nuff said? So we are talking a daily weedle or two in the same spot on the carpet. I have always used my Little Green Machine to clean this up, but after paying a pro company to come do the entire job for $150 each time and only having it done 2-3 times /year, I decided I should save the money and buy one of these things based on the reviews on here. I did not purchase this machine on Amazon.com, but rather from Costco.com at a better discount.
Funnel 7 tablespoons of brown sugar into your container, and add the fruit. Next, add the water, and tightly screw on the cap, giving everything a good shake to mix it around. Loosen the cap and leave it on halfway to release the gases and ensure your bottle doesn’t explode due to the build-up. After 3 months, you’re natural enzymatic cleaner will be ready to use!
