Febreeze are some of my favorite products because their spray scent is never too strong. That is exactly how this spray is! It smells good enough to cover any animal smell but not to to strong to make you sneeze or anything.
ways to get rid of hiccups: the tricks that work! Use this Non-toxic Pet Odor Eliminator to get rid of the pet smells in your home and replace them with the scent of wild orange. Its an essential oil recipe that is safe to deodorize around dogs.
Use baking soda. Baking soda is one of the most popular deodorizers around, because it’s effective and cheap. To absorb smells around the house, sprinkle some baking soda into a couple of small dishes or plates and distribute them around the house. The baking soda will absorb odors from the rooms and get rid of bad smells.[12]
“Dogs aren’t at the groomer very long, so we don’t deal with a lot of big accidents. But intact males, usually the smaller dogs, will mark their territory right as they walk out the door. This cleans up those spots fast and there’s no lasting odor.” — Lisa Sawin, groomer and owner of Lisa’s Pet Styles
Unlike enzymes, Odorcide 210 works fast on the worst urine, organic decay, feces, and mold and mildew odors with no dwell time and no danger to pets or people. Use it on carpets, canvas, clothing, floors, and walls; it’s also effective as a laundry soak or rinse, and as a surface spray.
Cats spray, or urine mark, as a normal way to communicate with others. While most cats mark by releasing small amounts of urine on vertical surfaces, occasionally they may also spray on horizontal surfaces, or even defecate. The majority of cats that spray are males that have not been neutered; hormones can play a significant role in urine marking.
I have three Scotties. Cushing’s disease will cause a dog to pee a lot, drink a lot of water and you should check with your vet for diagnosis and medication. Currently have one that has it and previously had one that had it. Evidently it is fairly common in certain breeds. And urinary tract infections will also make doggies pee more frequently.
This product is made to be used in full size deep cleaning machines (Bissell, Hoover, Dirt Devil, Rug Doctor, etc. . .), whether rented or purchased. A: Remove mildew odor from carpet by drying the air in the room and removing the mildew itself. The process requires removing the carpet and taking it to a sunny area for several days. Kill any remaining mildew spores by spraying with dilute hydrogen peroxide and drying the carpet.
If it isnt a lot of pee, then repeatedly rinsing and drying the area MAY work, as may using something that draws out liquid, such as bicarb of soda or even salt… (so you wash the stain, dab dry, pour on the powder/salt, leave to dry, vacuum off).
Wipe up and blot. Using paper towels, blot up as much of the urine as possible if the surface is fabric or carpet. With these surfaces, there is a danger of the urine soaking into the fibers of the material. Use a gentle dabbing motion to blot up the urine.[4]
Often a cat will inappropriately urinate because of a medical condition. If you have problems with a cat not using his litter box please get him checked by a vet. Examination by your vet for lower urinary tract diseases is necessary to rule out medical conditions which could be causing the inappropriate urination problem. For example a painful case of cystitis or urethral blockage may have your cat associating the pain of urination with it’s litter tray and it will therefore avoid it’s litter tray. We usually use Nature’s Miracle for our little accidents, but this is a recipe I’d like to try in the future. Fortunately most of our accidents are small puppy accidents and only end up on the carpet or tile floor. I’m glad I haven’t had to deal with a mattress stain…yet…
[…] puppies will have accidents in the house. The House Life Weekly blog has a great article about Cat Urine Smell Remover Recipe and I’m sure the recipe will work for all kinds of pet urine. In the past I’ve mainly […]
A: To eliminate the mildew smell, wash the offending towels in the hottest water that is safe for the fabric, using two tablespoons of baking soda in both the wash and rinse cycle. A second, water-only rinse cycle, after the baking soda rinse, removes any remaining residue.
Let the sun shine in. Sunlight contains ultra-violet rays, which have the power to kill things like smell-causing mold and bacteria. No matter what time of year it is, open the curtains and drapes throughout the house on a sunny day and let the UV rays in.
Wow! The All-Surface Granules really work and it is so easy to use. I have a 15 year old cat who had soaked my new sofa with urine. I had done everything I knew of to try to rid it of the stench. Twenty-four hours with Odorzout, and you would never guess there had ever been a problem. I also have a pouch hanging by the litter box. I never intend to be without your product again.
The Large Hard Surface Cleaning System I is intended for the removal of dog, or cat, or human urine ODORS ONLY, in hard surfaces such as concrete, etc. If cleaning porous surfaces, first use the Prove-It Kit.

Good information! After you have done all these things, spray the area with straight Listerine (or a knock-off). It will kill the odor, and dogs and cats don’t like the smell of the Listerine, so it will help prevent their returning to the scene of the crime. Voted up and useful! 🙂
is there an alternative? I’m babysitting and the little girl peed on a brown couch and I’ve mixed the soap and water but I can still smell the pee.. there isn’t any baking soda, vinegar, or peroxide here at the house.
Personal helpful tip: at step 5, I simply cover the entire stain area with a dry towel and place some weight on it. It ensures maximum contact and all the liquid goes up into the towel without me having to hold it. Try it.
Inappropriate urination is more than a nuisance. Besides in the case of cats who haven’t yet been litterbox trained, urinating outside of a designated area in the house usually signals that something is wrong. Cats don’t like to urinate in places where they can’t cover up their waste – so if your cat is doing this, they’re probably no happier about it than you are.

Cleans urine stains better and faster on porous grout. Because we do not have constraints that enzyme-based cleaners do, we can include ingredients such as an oxygen-based bleaching agent (hydrogen peroxide), surfactants, a mild solvent (isopropyl alcohol) and an acidic pH.
Jothan Hatch, the national training director for Chem-Dry carpet cleaning, has a puppy named Koda who’s still perfecting potty training. Sometimes, when he gets over-excited, he “leaks,” says Hatch. Fortunately, Hatch knows a bit about rescuing rugs.
Hi Emily, great question! I recommend looking into crate training your dog. It’s not easy leaving your dog in a crate while you’re away, but it can help with training. Crate training has been proven to help dogs get potty trained. Check out the article and let me know if you have any questions, and good luck! https://www.caninejournal.com/crate-training-puppy/
Thank you for this site and the work you’ve done on it. It’s very helpful. My little old cat has, for various reasons, has accidents on the carpet. It’s getting better, but I’ve really been thankful for the information you’ve shared, which I’ve used. Now, I’m going to try the apple cider vinegar in the wash to launder the old towels and pads I’ve used. I’m sure that will work as well as the other cleaning tips did. Thank you again!
Hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2, is a powerful oxidizer that renders the chemicals in strong, acidic pet fluids, such as urine or vomit, inert. Peroxide breaks down the crystallizing compounds in urine and also removes stains. Be sure to test for color fastness before applying.
The citrus scent is nice and easy on the nose and will also discourage all but the most stubborn pets from reusing the area. We all know the pain of having to repeatedly clean the same area and any kind of discouragement from continuing this process unabated is good for both us and our pets.
I had come on here to find a way to remove pet stains. After reading through the comments, I found one person who said about Genesis 950. I had never heard of it before, however I had gone through every cleaner at the pet store and nothing was working. I was about to give up and replace the carpet . . . I probably could have with everything I spent on cleaners.
Remove mold from hard surfaces. Mold has a particular smell that can permeate your entire home. It’s important for your health and the smell of your home to deal with any mold problems, such as in the shower, on tiles, in sinks, or in other damp areas of the house. To kill mold:[4]
I own a cat that my girlfriend claims is a bit of a male diva. What I try and explain to her is that cats are, by default, emotionally demanding, masters of creating unnecessary drama, fussy over their appearance, and basically can make the world revolve around them.
The best way for a homeowner to perform simple odor removal is with a readily accessible substance. Homeowners have been getting rid of foul smells with home remedies for decades. While these substances are easy to apply to the carpet and are effective for smaller jobs, they aren’t feasible for more extensive problems. Also, they don’t typically eliminate the cause of the scent but cover it up instead. This just masks the health hazard in the room and so it remains a threat.
