This is a great, all around solution to anything which you might face as a result of your animals lack of training or illness. It’s an enzymatic cleaner which scores top points from us for its ability to be used anytime, anywhere to make short work of even the toughest stains and the foulest odors.
Close off the affected area. Once you have cleaned the soiled area and are giving it time to dry, close off the area to prevent your cat from having access to it. This will give you time to be sure that the stain and its odor have been eliminated. Then you can open the area again.
I have found hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dishsoap to work so well that the cats don’t go back to the same place twice, or sniff at places they’ve peed after treatment: a cat’s nose is the gold standard for judging whether cat pee smell is gone or not. Getting it to smell clean to a human nose is only half the battle if you don’t want repeat toilet visits to your carpet or furniture.
First, have a quick talk with him about how warm and airless it is and how you are in cramped quarters. Let him know you’ve been doubling up on the deodorant because of this, and that you have an extra deodorant if he wants it. If he still doesn’t get the hint, get a couple of fans and aim them away from your space to keep the smell from invading it.
As air cycles through the air cleaner, the CADR measures the volume of air actually moving through the system, and the percentage and size of the particles being removed. CADR tests for pollutants like tobacco smoke, dust and pollen. These tests determine, in cubic feet per minute (CFM), how effective the air cleaner is at removing specific pollutants.
For Tammy who posted on Nov 26, 2015: I rescued a stray cat in March 2013 and had to take her to Vet right away because she had lots of blood in her urine. They found out from an x-ray that she had a huge bladder stone that stemmed from having a UTI for a long time. They told me they would put her on antibiotics and some other meds as well as change her diet. If this didn’t work it would mean surgery, which I couldn’t afford. I had to buy her Hills Prescription Diet- Urinary C/D. It’s $20 for a 4 oz bag but low and behold, and possibly by a miracle, her bladder stone disappeared. She will be on it for life but it sure beats having your Cat in pain, urinating all over the house.

Bad odors often indicate the presence of harmful bacteria, mold, or other contaminants – which is why it is important to identify the root cause and deal with the problem at its source. Stinky smells caused by mold, pets, cooking, fire or cigarette smoke can not only affect your lifestyle, but also cause loss of property value or trigger adverse health effects. A healthy home is important to the health of your family, don’t ignore a bad smell in house, workplace or car, it could be a sign of unhealthy indoor air quality.
To do this well, OdorKlenz spent a lot of time in the lab to develop an array of safe and effective products specially formulated to eliminate the kinds of smells that can plague a household of animal lovers. Like all of our products, our entire pet odor line relies on earth minerals and do not contain any perfumes, dyes, or harsh chemicals because we also know that you care deeply about the safety of the cleaning products you use around your family. There is simply no need to try to outdo nature’s powerful ability to clean and deodorize.
If you notice a wet spot that may have happened earlier in the day, sprinkle it with baking soda and let it sit overnight, said Annie B. Bond, green living expert and author of Clean and Green. After the patch dries overnight, spray it with distilled white vinegar and don’t be concerned if the carpet bubbles a bit while the compounds interact to clean.
Our cat just started peeingin several places all over the house. Ihave used several things to clean it first was an arm and hamor stain and urine remover, then natures miracle and then went over again with bissel solution urine remover for wet vac and i canstill see the spots with the black light. Use baking soda and vinegar. When baking soda and vinegar are combined, they create water and sodium acetate (or salt).[3] The sodium acetate acts as an abrasive to to scrap away stubborn residues. Separately, baking soda helps to eliminate odors while vinegar sanitizes and removes deposits. There are several steps to using this cleaner:
Decomposition odors can be caused by many different things from the common spill of a beverage that penetrated too deep for traditional cleaning methods or from bodily fluids such as blood left over from unfortunate events such as trauma or crime scenes.  These odors are not only unpleasant but may provide evidence of health hazards such as bacteria or harmful gases such as H²S more commonly called “sewer gas.” This gas, commonly derived from the decomposition of organic materials and bodily fluids can be toxic at certain levels. Decomposition odors may also indicate the presence of dangerous airborne pathogens.
Consider getting your cat neutered or spayed. Cats that are spayed will not purposely urinate in order to mark their territory, solving the problem for you in the first place. Plus, you won’t end up with a litter of kittens to potty train!

Thank you Thank you Thank you. I spent my whole weekend cleaning my family room carpet with a carpet cleaning machine, about 3-4 times. Today it STILL smelled like urine. I tried the recipe and it worked GREAT. I put the vinegar/water mixture in my machine and went over the stinky area. My carpets are pretty dry after the machine sucks all the water up so I went right to the next step and a few hours later I am crawling around on my hands and knees trying to find the urine smell but it is nowhere to be found!!!! : )

Choose a remover with a nice smell that suits both you and kittens. I really like an odor remover that has a mild fragrance, not those fake products that use overly strong smell to cover the odor. I don’t mean all products that have a strong smell are fake but you should be careful when testing them. Fake ones will only fool your nose with a stronger smell but it’ll go away soon.
I use SCOE 10X which I can only buy online. Unlike others, it is probiotic based. Nothing else worked for dog urine odor. Be sure to soak thoroughly and then rinse thoroughly with a wet-dry vacuum and water, or it may pick up soil later. Normally this does not happen, it just depends on how much I have to use.
Pet odor eliminator reviews from pet owners: “I am a city-dwelling dog owner, who lives on the second floor. We use a Porch Potty on our deck for our puppy, which has been a life saver for house-training…but, as we quickly discovered, where there is dog waste, there are…”
Mix up a vinegar solution. If an enzyme cleaner didn’t completely remove the smell, use a vinegar solution. Combine equal parts of white vinegar and water in a bowl or spray bottle. Saturate or spray the soiled area. Saturate a little bit beyond the soiled area so you can be sure to remove all urine.
Uric acid is not water-soluble and it bonds tightly to whatever it’s in contact with. It can’t be removed with soap, vinegar, baking soda, or hydrogen peroxide – all of which are commonly recommended for removing cat urine. While these solutions can temporarily remove the smell and even appear to be effective, they ultimately don’t break down the odor-releasing uric acid. As this uric acid lingers, it can continue to release the urine smell for years. This persistent odor, while not always detectable by the human olfactory sense, may cause your cat to return to the area repeatedly, perpetuating the issue

I finally called a service to have the carpet cleaned. They used a pre conditioner, extraction, enzyme cleaner and a deodorizer. This was Friday. The odor was gone Friday & Saturday. I kept my cat out of the room hoping to break the habit. On Sunday I started smelling a sour smell. Not as strong as what was there prior to having the carpets cleaned. By Monday morning the ammonia smell was back. (Albeit not near as strong)
Try cleaning without detergent at first. If you find that you’re still not pulling up the stain, ask the representatives at the rental center what they recommend, and try to use as little detergent as possible.

Don’t mean to be condescending but I used this and it worked beautifully, so I wonder if you might have possibly picked up baking powder or corn starch or something. I’ve made that kind of mistake before when stressed and rushing to get rid of a stain before it sets. It just sounds so strange and different from my experience. Thanks to the writer for the tip, you saved a mattress, a lot of money, and my mind!
