I had read mixed reviews regarding this carpet cleaner leaving “clumps” of hair/fur all over the rug, some people saying that it was due to it being so powerful that it pulls up hair that has been missed with a not so powerful vacuum cleaner, and others stating that its suction isn’t powerful enough thus the clumps!

If you have a puppy, an elderly dog, or a dog still mastering their potty training skills, you’ve dealt with pee in the house. Depending on what surface they go on, and how long it sits before you find it, that stubborn dog pee smell can really stick around! But it doesn’t have to.
Where do I begin to sing the praises on this one? I had to order it separately from Bissell.com, BUT it was well worth it. I think it only cost around $20 with s/h but you can double check that at the site. I used it on the hardwood with the solution that is also sold on the site. Didn’t notice much difference. But then I moved to my tile which is knobbly and has lots of crevices that have made me rethink my decision to get “non-slippery” tile for my kitchen. I set up the machine, using the solution and followed the directions on the bottle. I then began working that dingy, nasty tile floor over. Let me start by letting you know that this tile floor is over 10 years old, has NEVER been completely clean UNLESS I have gotten on my hands and knees and scrubbed it tile by tile, inch by inch with a brush and Clorox Clean up. Yes, you know I am doing that every weekend. Just kidding. I do it Spring and Fall. That is it. The rest of the time I am mopping with bleach water, just to keep the grout looking semi decent. Never works. This machine DOES NOT get into my deep/recessed grout, BUT it leaves the tile floor the cleanest feeling it has ever been. Even brand new! My daughter and I are barefoot people who HATE to have the feeling of dirt on our feet. This cleaner makes the tile floor clean and non-sticky. One thing I have to mention is I cannot attest to streaks as my tile is porous and does not have a glaze on it. I take an old towel once I am done with the entire floor and drag the towel with my feet. The machine will get up the water for the most parts, but often leaves a scant line of water on either side of the head. I usually can get it by just going back over with the machine, but if I miss parts, I simply use the towel. The entire kitchen would NORMALLY take me 30 minutes to mop (large kitchen/dining area) and now I am done in less than 15 minutes with the cleanest kitchen floor ever!
I purchased this product last year, and it really does do a nice job at removing the odor from the cat urine. I have wood floors, and I’ve used it plenty of times directly on the wood floor with no negative consequences to the wood.
Most cleaners and odor removers work their best if you attack the problem as soon as it happens. The quicker you get to the disaster the better off you’ll be. Enzymatic solutions are particularly useful this way since fresher material will find the material more “palatable” in the immediate aftermath.
By doing this, you can help to make sure the stain is taken care of quickly and efficiently rather than making things worse. It might be tempting to just pull out your expensive carpet cleaner for pets, but you can really minimize the chance of permanent staining by doing this.
Before you use any products on furniture, it’s best to disassemble as much as possible. Remove pillows, blankets, slip covers, or any other materials so you can vacuum or treat areas separately and thoroughly.
Carpet is just not designed to be washable to the degree required to get urine out, if its soaked through the underlay and into the floor below then you have pretty much no chance at all and really you need a new carpet or better yet… a waterproof flooring like lino or tiles.
Most people will have bad breath at least once in their life, but it is unusual for breath to smell like urine. Possible causes range from nasal congestion to chronic kidney disease (CKD). Treatment depends on the underlying cause. Here, learn more about why breath might smell like urine and how to treat it.
Once the paper towel becomes somewhat dry (instead of “drenched”), spray on vinegar and water. Place another clean paper towel on top, then get a heavy object such as a book or a suitcase (depending on how big the pee was!) and lay it over the towel; let set to absorb for 1/2 hour or so. Then you can spray on hydrogen peroxide and wipe with a clean wet rag. Set the book on the spot again and let set another 1/2 hour. You can sprinkle baking soda on later once you think the spot is pretty removed. SOMETIMES YOU MUST REPEAT THIS APPLICATION. You can also use carpet freshener too.
Pick up the phone any time you see a change in your pee that doesn’t seem linked to new medications or a recent meal — especially if the change lasts more than a day or so, or if it comes with a fever, back or side pain, vomiting, feeling very thirsty, or discharge. Your doctor can test your urine to see what’s going on.
It takes three days to put one carpet cleaner through our battery of cleaning-performance tests. Our engineers soil large swatches of off-white nylon carpet with red Georgia clay. We run a cleaner over the carpet for four wet and four dry cycles, simulating how you’d clean a particularly dirty spot on a well-trafficked carpet. Then we repeat the test on two more swatches.
They suggest getting a wet vac and rinse the area with water until thoroughly rinsed through. Not using any chemicals or deodorizers because those can attract the pet to the area again. But to rinse it as well as possible with just water until the stain is gone.
I’ve been looking for how to remove dog urine smell from carpet and think I found the answer. My family grew up using Resolve and I remember it not working. However, when I got married my husband swore by it, so I gave it another chance. They must’ve changed their formula because it actually works! We’ve only had to use it a couple times, once when our dog went potty inside and another time when I spilled watermelon juice on our WHITE chair (shhhh don’t tell my husband). Thankfully both stains are gone and everything looks (and smells) great!

Try an enzymatic cleaner to start. Wet the area with cool distilled water, pouring a small amount around the perimeter of the stain, moving from the outside of the stain toward the center. Spray an enzymatic cleaner on the wet spot, and allow it to sit overnight. If your carpet is wool, make sure you’re using a wool-safe cleaner.
Thank you so much for the pet stain and odor remover. I have 3 dogs, 2 are seniors and are prone to accidents now. I have a questions for you. Do you know of anything that helps toe nail fungal infections. I has caused my nails to thicken and are very uncomfortable.
If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide on hand you can substitute it with a laundry spray stain remover. Check the bottle. If it says ‘Oxy’ anywhere on the label then it probably contains hydrogen peroxide. Preen, Sard, OxiClean etc.
Wash urine collection devices thoroughly. Disinfect reusable parts with commercial cleansers or with a solution containing one part white vinegar and two parts water. Don’t bother with bleach, which is harsh and does not dissolve urine crystals as well as vinegar.
To get your house to not smell like your pets, start by vacuuming all of the floors, carpets, and furniture in your house. Then, wipe down any upholstered furniture with warm soapy water and let it air dry, which will help eliminate odors trapped in the fabric. You should also machine wash your bedding, your pet’s bed, and your pet’s toys to get rid of any odors coming from them. Also, try opening up all of your windows and setting up an air purifier.
Pet odors like cat urine, dog urine, and other types of pet urine are difficult to remove. Eliminate pet odors quickly and permanently with Odor Destroyer. I that’s a little drastic and not fair to the dog/puppy. You don’t have to cut the sub floor out, if you do it right and there is no visible stain on carpet you can replace the area of stained padding for the sub-floor paint over affected area with kills paint, available at Walmart and lumber stores return carpet to use.
Well, my puppy started pottying on my new carpet after a few months, for some reason. I clean the spots by first soaking it all up with paper towels, then using OUT. I also used my carpet cleaner machine. However, I went back with the black light and the spots are still showing up just as bright. I’m sick. What to do?
I work for a carpet cleaning company and we use a product called Skunk Out by Adco Pro Cleaning. It doesn’t take much and it works very well. The product contains active enzymes that break down the ammonia in the urine.
Ciufo also recommends that you think about space and storage, and look for models with attachments that suit your needs. “If you want to clean your furniture, look for a carpet cleaner with a brush that is easy to swivel around cracks and clean fabric,” he says.
Mix up your water and vinegar solution. After blotting up any excess fluid, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the soiled area. Pour the water and vinegar solution directly onto the baking soda to create a mini cleaning volcano that will actively eat away at the stain. Blot and rub gently dry with a soft cloth after letting it sit for 5 minutes.
Please do not use bleach! You will strip the carpet fibers of the color dye. If you would like to learn how to remove pet odors and stains please call a professional Like Benchmark Restoration & Cleaning
Absorb smells with a deodorizer. There are lots of deodorizers that can target pesky pet smells. You can purchase one from the store, or make your own if you’re feeling crafty and thrifty. Two of the most popular items are baking soda and vinegar, which you can spray around the house, on carpets, on beds, and elsewhere to help remove smells. To make your own deodorizers:

I am often contacted by readers of my articles. This is the story of one reader, Sophia. She told me about her experience with carpets that smelled of dog urine in a house that her family has recently moved into.
Excellent product. It is very effective at not only pet urine odors but also neutralizing human urine odor around toilets and urinals. It is by far the best product that I have ever used on cat urine.
The ShippingPass assortment is continually being optimized. Products are added and removed for lots of reasons, but the main reason is to show items that we’re 100% sure we can deliver within the promised timeline.
I just read this on the Humane Society’s website: Avoid using steam cleaners to clean urine odors from carpet or upholstery. The heat will permanently set the stain and the odor by bonding the protein into any man-made fibers.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to remove odor from hardwood floors? We have 3 shih-tzus and 2 of them are 8 years and do have accidents. One of them is very overweight and I’m starting to suspect possible diabetes. She is going to vet this week. The male will go when we leave sometimes. I believe he gets mad at us for leaving him!!! We also have a 5 year old male that WILL NOT go in the house unless he is sick. The big difference is my husband and I were both working when we got the 2 eight year olds as puppies. I was not working when we got the 5 yr old and he was potty trained in less than 2 weeks!!! Lesson learned!!!
Your kidneys serve to filter excess water and water-soluble wastes out of your blood, getting rid of toxins and things that would otherwise build up and cause you to become ill. Many things — from excess protein and sugar to bacteria and yeast — may make their way into your urine.
I have 2 older poms, Bear is 10 and had a bad time for several months of drinking every drop of water, several times a day and then constantly having accidents all over the house. And every time I took them out, he went a lot! First vet visit I was told that his urine was too watered to tell if he had any infection. Then told they wanted him brought back for expensive testing to check for cushings disease. Since I couldn’t afford $500-$1000 in testing medications, I decided to change their dry food to something more reputable. Since taking them off just 6 and on to nature’s balance then blue wilderness (slightly more affordable) Bear is doing great! Maybe 2-3 accidents in last 5 months! (That may have been my fault for not getting them outside for too long) I am not trying to talk bad about any vets or food labels, I just want to share this experience because it may be helpful to someone.
Start off with feeding a good brand of food from a pet store, and not a commercially advertised cheap product from grocery stores(cheap ones are brightly colored and high in cheap fillers which are dangerous for your pet and could, lead to health problems one day), or feed raw (best solution) after that all of the things listed in this will work for smell/stain remover. I have used it for both three cats and three dogs ad works wonders.
Red/Pink Hematuria (fresh blood in the urine) related to urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney stone, or rarely cancer; consumption of red foods such as beets, blueberries, red food dyes, rhubarb; iron supplements; Pepto-Bismol, Maalox, and a variety of other drugs5; classic “port wine” color may indicate porphyria (genetic disorder) ***Consult your physician immediately if you suspect you have blood in your urine
I never have problems with pee. My problem is with a cat that throws up. How do you get those stains out. My brand new carpet is stained so bad it needs replacing again. Cat food is made of brightly colored
