“products to get rid of cat urine smell cleaning dog urine off carpet”

Covering the area loosely with something is always a good idea. This will not only help prevent the cat from attempting to pee on the same spot while the enzyme cleaner does its work; it will stop family members from stepping or sitting on the wet spot. Some people lay aluminum foil down over the area; other recommendations include an upside down laundry basket or an aluminum baking sheet.
The first step is the most obvious. Clean any affected areas as thoroughly as possible. That doesn’t mean a quick vacuum or running over your hardwood with a Swiffer. Pet odor removal is only effective if you give affected areas a good, deep cleaning. Scrub and mop hard surfaces as thoroughly as possible, and think about using a vinegar or baking soda solution as you do so. Both are rumored to work wonders when it comes to removing pet smells. And if you’re dealing with pet odor removal from carpeting, hire a professional. Make sure they use the hot water extraction method (also known as “steam cleaning”), since it provides the deepest clean, and ask if they use a truck mounted unit. These units do a much better job of getting down into the carpet pile, where much of the pet smell resides, than other professional carpet cleaning techniques, or any homeowner operated unit you can rent.
Another option: Mix a solution of 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1 teaspoon of liquid dish detergent in a bowl. Sprinkle baking soda on the soiled area. Pour the liquid solution on the baking soda and the stain. Gently rub the area with a soft-bristled brush or cloth. Let it sit for 10 minutes (longer if the vomit has dried.) Use a towel to remove as much liquid as possible, then vacuum the area. For a tough stain, you may have to repeat these steps.
Hi, I was just wondering if you knew any ways to remove the smell of cat urine off something that cannot be easily washed – a laptop for example please ??? I have a new kitten who unfortunately decided to wee on something that was on laptop (to hide laptop from view of people outside) and it soaked through onto laptop (which still works). I have tried anti-bac wiping it (lemon scented) – and still stinks. It didn’t get into the laptop – just onto the surface of the lid.
If you used paper towels in your poultices, be sure to seal them in a garbage bag and get rid of them as soon as possible, so that your pet doesn’t try urinating on them, or digging them out of the garbage.
I used stickable 1/4 inch foam around my door cracks and used a rolled up towel and body pillow against the bottom of the door crack to solve this problem. You might also want to close any heating vents in your room (if you can maintain a comfortable temperature in there without them), as the smoke travels through these vents.

While it’s not a standalone product, if you’ve invested in a carpet cleaner then you’re going to be quite happy with Bissell 2X Pet Stain & Odor remover. It’s also a lot cheaper than most standalone options.

I have a female pitbull who is somewhat trained, and by that I mean she does well when I’m awake and goes to the restroom when I take her outside but during the night when I sleep she gets up without me noticing and uses the restroom on my carpet. She used to cry when she needed out but has recently stopped and left me with surprises in the morning. I’ve recently moved her to outside and I hate it because she is my sleeping buddy. What should I do?
Iodine is also used when you have a situation with dog pee smell on the wooden surfaces. The solution is prepared in the same way. If the odor remains after all your attempts maybe you should consider contacting drycleaner or cleaning professionals. Sometimes old pee smell is very difficult to remove.
To avoid the extremely strong odor of male cat urine, always have male cats neutered. Not only is the smell of their odor stronger, but un-neutered male cats also have tendencies to urinate in areas other than their litter boxes.[19]
It does flare up my asthma WHILE I spray it, but only because I am kneeling over the area and spraying a lot of volume. If I spray less or simply walk away for a few minutes it is fine. No need for hours of ventilation like Odoban or other stronger products….literally just a few minutes.
Ah how I can relate to this scenario! After almost 30 foster dogs coming through my house (most not housebroken to start with) I know the battle with lingering odor well-and the frustration of having the dog go outside only to come in and find a blanket or rug to go on. And that feeling of never having your house clean! If none of the above cleaners work for you, you can always try a commercial product (of course natural is best!)-if you go that route I would recommend Biokleen Bac-out. I wish I had a magic solution, but cleaners aside, maybe I can offer some advice that can help.
Oh no, Jenni! Did it get into her mattress? I would definitely check in with a vet because as far as my experience has been, kittens are pretty intuitive about burying and peeing in a place where they can bury.
Used to get animal scent off from where the cat sits on the furniture. It did remove smell without harsh fragrance covering it up. However, did not have use on real tough smells like cat urine, so not sure its effect on that. It is quite expensive
For set-in pet stains on carpeting or rugs, simple spray cleaners may not suffice. You can rent a carpet cleaner from your local grocery or hardware store, or hire professional carpet cleaners to come attack the stains.
What is this awesome, natural ingredient? It’s White Vinegar. I’ll bet this is the easiest homemade anything you’ve ever made! Vinegar is a natural deodorizer, a mild disinfectant and it can help eliminate bacteria the urine leaves behind.

There aren’t many downsides to our furry friends. They provide us with a whole lot of joy, but an unfortunate side effect of living with them is the fact that we end up with both stains and odors that can get rather distasteful. Thankfully, there are a lot of ways to take care of them, so if you’ve been looking for a commercial solution to this nose hair burning and unsightly problem, we’re happy to you with some solutions.
Hi, Emmalee! That’s a good question – throwing it all on top of the clothes shouldn’t hurt them at all. If you have dispensers in your machine, then what I do is throw the vinegar into my detergent dispenser and then the baking soda (along with the detergent). But if you don’t have the dispensers then don’t be afraid to throw it all in and start your machine. It’s gentle stuff.
Hi Eric! I just discovered your website and was reading all the comments. I’ve had indoor cats for many, many years. I have probably come close to using every product on the market to get rid of the urine smell in my carpet. I even have a can of “Resolve Pet Expert” carpet cleaner (Kent’s solution to the problem back in February). Yes, Resolve does seem to work at the moment – but it certainly doesn’t last. The white vinegar solution works great as does the hydrogen peroxide/baking soda/dish liquid solution. I really just wanted to say kudos to your response to Kent’s comment back in February 🙂 There was no need for his rudeness so thank you for your response.

On carpet, cover the area with paper towels or an absorbent cloth and use your hands or feet to gently press. This will help draw out and soak up as much liquid as possible. You may need to use several paper towels, and repeal the process until the area is almost completely dry.
Hello. I have a multi cat apartment and just recently realized there is a smell. I’m not sure if it’s urine or spray or a mixture. How can I get this smell out of my wood floors, tiles and in the air? Thank you!

Uric acid, the stuff that causes the odor, is not water soluble and will not respond to water-based cleanup methods. An enzymatic cleaner breaks down the uric acid and removes the smell. Soak the soiled area with the enzymatic cleaner — as deep into the cushions as the urine did. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
