“remove dog pee from carpet |how to get rid of dog urine smell in carpet”

Close off the affected area. Cats are naturally attracted by the enzymes in urine and will be drawn to urinate in areas that have previously been urinated in. Cover the area loosely with something like aluminum foil or an upside-down laundry basket. This will not only keep the cat from attempting to pee in the same spot while the cleaner does its job but also keep any members of the household from stepping on the area.
Give your pet a bath. Pets love to play, which often means getting into messes. Regular bathing is a good idea for dogs and ferrets, and some other pets could use a wash now and then as well. Get your pet (and their favorite bath toy, if they have one) into a bathtub, wash basin, or bucket. Use a hose or bucket to wet your pet’s fur. Apply pet shampoo to the fur and lather it in with your hands until it’s nice and soapy. Rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of shampoo, and towel dry their fur. They should smell great, and look great as a bonus.
Most every day cleaning solutions that we use will get rid of the main onset and effects of pet odor, but generally this will only work for a limited amount of time by overpowering it with a different scent or chemicals, but it is difficult to mask the odor completely. Over time most people find that things will still smell of pet odor, even after they have been cleaned and sprayed with a deodorizer. Air fresheners and aerosols only mask the smell of pet odor for the short term and are not effective at completely ridding the home of the smell.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to remove odor from hardwood floors? We have 3 shih-tzus and 2 of them are 8 years and do have accidents. One of them is very overweight and I’m starting to suspect possible diabetes. She is going to vet this week. The male will go when we leave sometimes. I believe he gets mad at us for leaving him!!! We also have a 5 year old male that WILL NOT go in the house unless he is sick. The big difference is my husband and I were both working when we got the 2 eight year olds as puppies. I was not working when we got the 5 yr old and he was potty trained in less than 2 weeks!!! Lesson learned!!!
I bought this at Target for about $4.50, applied liberally with the sprayer–though I was tempted just to dump it on the carpet as my hand was getting sore. I was pretty skeptical but thought it would be worth a try. 24 hours after application, there’s just a mild scent of detergent and virtually no smell of urine. It does say it contains bacteria and enzyme solution, which I believe might be the key. Neither of the other solutions I tried mention anything about enzymes or bacteria.
Blot the urine on your carpet with paper towels. Try to remove as much of the urine as possible. This will ultimately make your job easier. Use clean paper towels and apply pressure. Repeat with new paper towels until you are unable to soak up any more urine.[1]
To use, simply wipe away any excess urine and soak the surface thoroughly with Nature’s Miracle. Wait five minutes, and wipe away. Customers attest to the fact that this best pet odor eliminator works on old, set in stains and fresh spots alike. It may take more than one application, but vigilance and patience are key.
We replaced the carpeting in our family room last year and before we installed the new carpet, I doused the concrete floor with enzymatic cleaner. It did a fabulous job on removing the old cat urine smell.
There should be plenty of flooring dealers and installers in your city. I’d suggest getting recommendations directly from friends and family (Facebook works great for this), or by browsing the reviews within the Flooring or Carpeting categories on Yelp.
If you suffer from the dog/cat pee problem and don’t have the ability or money to install tile, then buy indoor/outdoor carpet. The new stuff at Lowes feels like real carpet without the problems of it.
Basically pink liquid is used usually but in case of long-standing stains of dog’s urine or very old stains we should prepare dark or almost black mixture of the potassium permanganate (we just add more of the crystals in the warm water).

A: To get skunk spray out of clothes, a mixture of hot water, vinegar and laundry detergent can be used. Clothes should be allowed to soak undisturbed in the mixture for about 20 minutes before washing normally.
Step 1.  If the cat has recently urinated on the carpet, first absorb as much of the cat urine as possible using paper towels. Place several layers of clean paper towels over the cat urine area and tread on them so as to absorb as much of the urine as possible. Repeat with dry towels until no more moisture can be absorbed.
At first I was skeptical about the pods but I gave them a try. I was having a hard time because they would stick to some of the clothes in the load. I would not put them into the washer first and I think that’s why they would stick. But after doing so, I am very satisfied with the product. It is just so convenient to carry a couple of them to the laundry mat!
A: Bowls or buckets of water, freshly sliced onions, lemon wedges, vinegar and lemon or vanilla extracts are all good ways to get rid of paint odors. These methods generally work within a few hours or overnight, depending on the strength of the paint fumes.
The only way to get rid of urine odor is to use a product that has an active enzyme in it. Vinegar will only temporarily get rid of the odor. If the urine gets into the pad of the carpet, you’re sunk. If you replace your carpet, it may be worth while to get a pad that has the plastic cover to prevent it from getting wet. I’ve done this and am happy I spent the few extra dollars.
We have old (like several months old) spots where our puppies have gone pee on the carpet. We have used a steam cleaner. The stains are gone, but the smell is still there in some spots. Any advice on how to get rid of the smell?
“This is more like a cover-up than a cleaner, but it works great for lawns, whether it’s your own or at the dog park. The green tint masks yellow spots in the grass and doesn’t wash off in the rain.” — Ryann Solomon, dog walker and owner of Ryannimals Pet Care
It seems that an elderly dog has little actual “decision” in becoming incontinent. In any case, I’ve had good luck with unscented “Hydrocide” at removing pet urine odors – you need to really saturate the carpet and the backing. After saturation, I let it sit for 15 minutes, then suck it back up with a shop vac then let the damp carpet dry. Works better for me than Nature’s Miracle and leaves no overpowering scent of its own behind. You might need to buy it from a professional carpet cleaning supply store. – Johnny Mar 17 ’14 at 2:02
This is a product I will never be without. My cat pee’d on my carpet. After 5 steam cleanings with enzymatic cleaners it still smelled bad. I was to the point of tearing up the carpet and replacing the pad and carpet plus treating the sub floor with something when a friend recommended this. I used it last night, sprinkled it on, left a fan running over it overnight, vacuumed it up this morning there is NO pee smell! Since my super power is my sense of smell this was amazing. My friend told me it may take several applications but it only took one. I did sprinkle a little more on and will leave it today. The only downside I see (and I think it’s because it’s in a high traffic area and I know several of my lovely offspring did walk on it) is that it tracked a bit and you need a really strong vacuum to suck it up, it goes deep into the carpet but that also means it gets where it needs to be. Very, very happy with this product.

is there an alternative? I’m babysitting and the little girl peed on a brown couch and I’ve mixed the soap and water but I can still smell the pee.. there isn’t any baking soda, vinegar, or peroxide here at the house.
Kat, I’ve had luck with the Bissell Little Green ProHeat I mention in this article. In fact, I just used it yesterday to get cat puke out of the runner in my foyer. Ugh. You definitely need to use a solution with it but Bissell carries a line (you can find it on Amazon at Target, etc.) and there are formulas specifically for pet odor. If it’s a super saturated or old stain you may need to go over it a few times but the ProHeat sucks all of the stain up so you’re not just masking the odor, you’re removing the source.
Clean pet messes immediately. You may be tempted to leave extra nasty messes for later, but try to act as soon as possible to avoid lingering odors. Pick up solid waste and throw it in the garbage. Blot the mess to absorb excess moisture. Spray the mess with an enzyme cleaner, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, blot the area with rags or a cloth and let it air dry.
I am so glad to see Chewy is now carrying Odor Mute!! I have been using it for years for cats sprayed by skunks!! It is a powder disolved with water. No chemical smells, animal can be bathed and no rinsing needed!! Works awesomely!! Very safe for everything, and truely removes odors! It uses enzymes to work not harsh chemicals!! The best stuff out there!!

Go ahead and replace the cover, then allow the area to air dry. A high-quality enzymatic cleaner will continue to consume odor sources until they’ve been completely eliminated. If after the first application, the odor remains, reapply after the surface has dried.
I have two long haired cats and definitely appreciate the febreeze effects. I also have a nice smelling house and it doesn’t soak what I spray it on. My cats favorite lounge spot is my leather couch and it is yet to damage my leather. I highly recommend!
Cat urine is the hardest odor in the world to eliminate. And that’s where PureAyre proves its power. But it also gets rid of skunk odor, and it’s powerful enough for use in situations with many animals, like veterinary clinics, animal shelters, kennels and more. In fact, we have an amazing tale about the power of PureAyre to remove pet odors even in a building that housed a pet store for over 35 years!
