“urine scent removal +best product for cat urine”

Whether it be from pet urine or a spill, once you have thoroughly removed all residue and think you have it all, place several layers of white paper towel on the freshly cleaned wet area. Next, weight the paper towel down. I use a large piece of ceramic/porcelain tile, and let it sit for about 48 hours. You will be amazed at what dries up into the paper towel instead of drying in the top fibers of your carpet.
Cats add so much joy to our lives, but the stains and odors that come with being a cat parent often bring frustration. Fortunately, making your own pet stain remover from simple ingredients can help you keep your house clean and fresh. DIY stain removers are safe to use around your pets (and usually cost less to make than store-bought cleaners). From urine to hairball to vomit stains, cleaners can effectively remove the stain and the odor that sometimes lingers.
Thank you again for all the responses and I hope one day to get a book published. As of now, I just update a file with favorite pics of myself and a pre-written obituary for my husband to publish in case my cat does accomplish her life long goal. Within the three column long obituary, I added few lines about being an “expert Amazon Reviewer”. Sounds morbid, I know, but I can’t trust my other half to use a decent picture of my face or remind the public why they will miss the Unhinged Crazy Cat Lay Who Is Not Fond Of Cats.
Replace the cat’s litter box more often. Cats like clean litter boxes, just as humans like clean bathrooms. If you’re neglecting your cat’s needs when it comes to offering a clean litter box, he may find it harder to resist urinating on your sofa or carpet.
Unlike typical cleaning products, odor eliminating solutions are specifically formulated to remove tough smells like urine left by pets. For these products to work, they have to fight the specific bacteria found in animals’ urine – the cause of smell.
Of course any cleaner needs to be used properly. Most enzyme cleaners come in a spray bottle. This is deceptive, because just spraying a light layer of enzyme cleaner over a urine stain will not result in complete cleaning of that spot. Cat pee wicks, and unless the enzyme cleaner completely envelopes all of the cat pee, even it won’t work. “Spraying” doesn’t work. Dousing, pouring, and soaking are required when cleaning up cat urine.
After applying vinegar to the pee spots and sucking it up with a wet vac…the spots where vinegar was applied shine bright yellow under black light. Does that mean the vinegar created a worse problem? Or that the pee is still there? Any ideas?
Clean pet messes immediately. You may be tempted to leave extra nasty messes for later, but try to act as soon as possible to avoid lingering odors. Pick up solid waste and throw it in the garbage. Blot the mess to absorb excess moisture. Spray the mess with an enzyme cleaner, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, blot the area with rags or a cloth and let it air dry.
You can use it wet or dry and with hot or cold water but my favorite thing about the Little Green ProHeat is that used on the hot water setting, it helps loosen pet urine stains before lifting them and I feel like there’s at least some germ-killing action happening as opposed to using plain cold water and sopping it all up with a rag or paper towels.
Cat urine is the hardest odor in the world to eliminate. And that’s where PureAyre proves its power. But it also gets rid of skunk odor, and it’s powerful enough for use in situations with many animals, like veterinary clinics, animal shelters, kennels and more. In fact, we have an amazing tale about the power of PureAyre to remove pet odors even in a building that housed a pet store for over 35 years!
Did you try to go back to the old school cat litter. If they didn’t have a problem before with it than that might be an option. Having a litter box in another room may also be an option. Some cats like to have their own litter box. Good luck.
Eco Housekeeping Tip: Pet Odor Eliminator – spray bottle, water, mouthwash, newspaper. combine 2 parts water to 1 part mouthwash spray mixture on soiled area, do not soak. Then place newspape (Swell Bottle Essential Oils)
Charged Media filters are also effective against nasty odors. Through the use of electrostatic energy and synthetic fiber filters, many charged media filters can collect particles as small as 0.1 microns. The media filter, made from synthetic fibers, is charged through the manufacturing process and attracts airborne contaminants electrostatically before trapping them inside the fibers of the filter.
This morning I had the carpet up and discovered it went under the boarding on the side of the bath in both corners and under one end of the duck board that we use on getting out of the bath. I used the dilute baking soda, straight away on the duck board (I know how good that is from having small children throw up in the car!!) removed the carpet – it’s now waiting to go to the tip, washed the cement floor underneath with the same mixture, until the shops were open and I could get out to get the ingredients for a spray. Here’s hoping it works, I think the enzyme action of the mixture should do the trick, the science makes sense!! Fingers crossed.
Another option here is to rip your carpet out, paint the floor board with Killz (I did this in a bedroom that had been saturated by cat urine and it worked perfectly) and then lay down a new pad and carpet. The thing is, I know that’s a costlier option, but, if you can afford it, may be cheaper and easier in the long run because cats tend to pee in the same places over and over again if there is any residual smell. Maybe see how the OdoBan works first if you’re hesitant. You could also paint the walls and ceilings with Killz and then paint over with regular paint.
Hello! These have been wonderful solutions to my cat problems, but curious as to why apple cider vinegar is NOT used on the carpet, especially if its dark carpet, (if someone is concerned about leaving a brown stain on lighter carpet, if any?). I do use a white vinegar water solution with it being more water than vinegar. Have you ever used apple cider vinegar in the solution for carpets?
Thoroughly blot up as much of whatever it is you’re cleaning up. I can’t emphasize the importance of this step enough. Fold up a rag over it, place a heavy book on it, and stand on the book to make sure you really get it all out (sounds extreme, but it does a good job!) Mix 2 cups of white distilled vinegar with 2 cups of lukewarm water in a large bowl.
Carpet is just not designed to be washable to the degree required to get urine out, if its soaked through the underlay and into the floor below then you have pretty much no chance at all and really you need a new carpet or better yet… a waterproof flooring like lino or tiles.
To do this well, OdorKlenz spent a lot of time in the lab to develop an array of safe and effective products specially formulated to eliminate the kinds of smells that can plague a household of animal lovers. Like all of our products, our entire pet odor line relies on earth minerals and do not contain any perfumes, dyes, or harsh chemicals because we also know that you care deeply about the safety of the cleaning products you use around your family. There is simply no need to try to outdo nature’s powerful ability to clean and deodorize.
After you’re done cleaning, shine a black light on a troublesome spot. It will show if cat urine is still present in the area. Sometimes it may seem like the urine is gone, but it can crystallize and stay present in carpet fibers. A black light shows the size of the stain that isn’t visible to the human eye or picked up by the human nose.
Hey so, I just wanted to say that the one where you mix the baking soda and vinegar you are just making sodium acetate, water, and Co2. If you mix them in the bowl or sprayer before applying it you aren’t really doing anything. You just end up with a lot of water and a small amount of either baking soda or vinegar left over (whichever had too much for the reaction). Just wanted to point that out. It’s basic chemistry.
Using small piece of soap and a bit of water make a cleaning soapy liquid. The resulting soapy liquid is applied on the smelling surface. Wait for approximately 10 minutes. With the wet sponge remove the remaining soap and wash the spot.
They suggest getting a wet vac and rinse the area with water until thoroughly rinsed through. Not using any chemicals or deodorizers because those can attract the pet to the area again. But to rinse it as well as possible with just water until the stain is gone.
Thanks Dreamhowl, I hope Murdoch, my JRT is not embarrassed that his picture is being shared across the Internet, portraying him as a slightly incontinent elderly terrier! It will do his street cred no good at all!
UltraTech’s new product is an odor removal solution (notice how we said “removal” and not “control”) that meets our customers’ needs while laughing in the face of these challenges (Not literally, our product is amazing but not yet able to laugh.)  Over 12 years of research and product development by Kimberly Clark, the inventors, and UltraTech, have resulted in an innovation we call Aveho® Odor Removal Technology based on the Latin word ‘aveho’, which means “to remove or carry away.”  (we couldn’t find the Latin word for “incredibly, unbelievably amazing, odor removal product the likes of which no one on Earth has ever seen”)
These stains were deep set and months old – and still smelled to the point it was uncomfortable being in the bedroom. You could still get the urine smell in other rooms of the apartment. The stain area was approximately 3×6 including the perimeter. We used three bottles mixed to highest recommended concentration on the stain area itself and one bottle with a less concentrated mixture on the perimeter. As other reviewers have said, it worked quickly. The smell was pretty much gone soon after saturating. It even seemed to get better as it dried. It’s now been over a week after treating the carpet with SUN and there is no urine odor in other rooms of the apartment and the bedroom is being comfortably used as a bedroom again. When the bedroom is warm or when you’re really giving the bedroom stain area the *sniff* test, you can get a whiff of odor. I’ve just ordered two more bottles and plan on to retreat the area with normal concentration mixtures. If they do any further magic I’ll update. We could just as easily have left things as they are and been satisfied, but we figured the first treatment was so effective, why not see if we can totally eliminate the odor.
PureAyre works. It is the most effective pet odor eliminator you can buy. Yet PureAyre is also safe, comprised of food-grade enzymes in purified water. PureAyre does not contain bacteria, alcohol or citrus. You can spray it directly onto your pets and onto their bedding. You can use it around the elderly, young children, and people with respiratory problems.
Repeat the process as needed until the stain and smell subside. Be aware that if you are dealing with an old stain, you may need to apply the enzymatic cleaner two or three times (and being sure to let it completely dry between applications) in order to fully get rid of the stain.[13]
I sure hope that the plants aren’t poisonous to the cats. You can put Lava Rocks around plants on top of dirt and your cat won’t dig there anymore; cats don’t like the feel of them. Water goes right though them to the plant’s roots, plus they are very pretty. I put them in all of my potted plants since we have 5 cats. You can purchase them in big bags at home improvement stores such as Stines, Home Depot or Lowes.
Since getting my first pup, I have encountered her peeing everywhere. My solution to get odor out is to spray the spot with a bug spray, not only does it stop her from going back to the spot it also takes the odor out. Seems the bug spray is stronger than urine, the smell goes away in a couple of minutes but, stays longer enough for her to smell and leave it alone, I used Hot Shot flying insect spray. It’s harmful because the dog won’t go near it.
Using a blacklight. Because of its chemical properties, pet urine shows up under a blacklight, specifically its scent-creating chemicals even when the stain has been dried or are days old. Outline these area in chalk or mark then with a sticky note to help you clean then when you turn on the lights.
We love our four-legged friends dearly…but not so much the stains and messes they leave behind. We can’t blame them really-they don’t come into the world knowing they have to go outdoors or in the litter box every time they have to go potty! There’s no way to avoid the mess, no matter how well trained your friend is, but by making your own cleaners you can avoid lasting stains and extra money spent on store-bought stain removers.
This best pet odor eliminator is made in the USA & 10% of the profits from this product are donated to animal rescues and shelters. This product is said to be great on stains and odors, according to customers who had tried multiple other products prior to purchasing this.
