If the wood on your furniture, walls, baseboard or floor is discolored, the varnish or paint has reacted to the acid in the urine. You may need to remove and replace the layer of varnish or paint. If you do so, make sure the new product is safe for pets.
If you used paper towels in your poultices, be sure to seal them in a garbage bag and get rid of them as soon as possible, so that your pet doesn’t try urinating on them, or digging them out of the garbage.
The salesperson at Petsmart gave me some good ideas once the odor problem is solved–to put down the dog training pads to cover the area where the odor was, in order to catch any follow-up urination in the same spot. Also, I’m considering putting my dog in dog diapers at night to make sure there aren’t further accidents.
It’s important to consult with your veterinarian to find out why your cat isn’t using her box. But in the meantime, if you do find urine on the new chaise lounge, don’t fret. We’re sharing 10 tips for cleaning cat urine and preventing your furniture from being given away to your sister who’s been eyeing it anyways.
It’s a disposal for food waste. Of course it can get a little stinky! But it’s easy to fix. One of the first things you should know is don’t run hot water while using the disposal. Hot water only causes grease to liquefy, accumulate, and cause your drain to get clogged. Always run cold water while running the disposal.
Lately, some customers who were satisfied with the old product claimed that the new “odor control formula” turns out to be a fraud and it’s not good as the old one. They also changed the scent which might disappoint customers who like the old smell.
To remove cat urine odor from a carpet you can spray a mixture of vinegar and warm water onto the affected area, though you may sometimes need to peel the carpet back and spray underneath it as well. Make you home smell fresh again with the aid of this free video on carpet cleaning.
Personal helpful tip: at step 5, I simply cover the entire stain area with a dry towel and place some weight on it. It ensures maximum contact and all the liquid goes up into the towel without me having to hold it. Try it.

On hardwood or laminate floors, use paper towels, an absorbent cloth, or a mop to sop up the pee. I love these reusable, super-absorbent cleaning cloths. Just throw them in the washing machine after use.
I have found hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dishsoap to work so well that the cats don’t go back to the same place twice, or sniff at places they’ve peed after treatment: a cat’s nose is the gold standard for judging whether cat pee smell is gone or not. Getting it to smell clean to a human nose is only half the battle if you don’t want repeat toilet visits to your carpet or furniture.
Step 3.  Apply a handful of baking soda over the affected area. Mix a quarter of a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent (dish soap) and drizzle this solution over the baking soda. Alternatively you can use a spray bottle for the hydrogen peroxide solution.
A: To neutralize the smell of bleach, scrub the affected area with a mixture of white vinegar and lemon juice, then rinse with cool water and dry the area with a towel. This procedure takes about 10 minutes and requires lemons, vinegar, a knife, a bowl, a spoon, a sponge, liquid dish soap, cool water and a towel.

1. If the area is still wet you should first attempt to absorb the dog urine. Leaving it there to dry out will encourage bacterial growth, which causes the odor. The best method is to place several layers of paper towels over the wet area and tread on it to soak up as much of the dog urine as you possibly can. You may have to repeat this several times. Sometimes accidents have already dried because you did not notice them before. You can find dried spots on your carpet with the aid of a black light. Dog urine stains will fluoresce under the ultra violet light in a darkened room; you can always save the expense of a black light to find the odors by using your nose instead.
Still. As someone who has two cats that she loves very, very much, I can’t help but feel like they’ve committed a special kind of wrong when one of them urinates on something of mine or my children’s. It’s just so violating.
However effective you are at spot cleaning those ‘little accidents’, there is always going to be a time when you want to clean the whole carpet. This could also be the case if you have moved into a new home where pets lived previously.

Thanks for your response Eric. Well, I did have the service come back out. He told me what he did should take care of it as he used an entire jug of whatever enzyme cleaner they use. That was Friday Morning and while it is better than it was there is still a stench. The service has said they specialize in pet treatments, but I am beginning to wonder if this is going to work. They are not pulling up the carpet so I do wonder if whatever they are doing is penetrating through to the pad. I know my has not resoiled the carpet because I have kept the room closed. Keeping the window open during the day.
Try setting out a bowl of vinegar in the area painted. The vinegar will soak up the odor. Or, cut an onion into two halves and place each half at opposite ends of the room. It will soak up the paint odor and won’t smell like onion. If the room is especially large, use more onion.
Finding the source of the smell is easily done using a black light. he urine will glow a fluorescent yellowish green color. Look on walls too, as high up as eye level. Sometimes cats can spray this far up. Urine has an enzyme which is not easily washed away. I have had great results with white vinegar, soap and water. The vinegar kills or removes the enzyme. (Carpeting may need extra shampooing with the vinegar, due to deep fibers holding onto urine.)
Try pheromone diffusers if you believe that territorial stress is part of the inappropriate urination issue. These products give off a synthetic version of the “happy cat” pheromone, which makes cats feel less stressed and more likely to use their litter box.
