“how to get rid of dog urine smell remove cat urine vinegar”

Deana, you should really get yourself a handheld blacklight to help you find the cat spray. In the meantime, your guess for a masking agent is as good as ours. Maybe try some Fresh Wave, it’s good stuff. And of course, leave your windows open if possible.
In addition to these five tips, I’d like to add the following: Do not have your cat declawed. I adopted a declawed cat from a local shelter and it took me months before I finally had her successfully using her litter box. She would pee on the carpet, sofa, towels, dirty clothes on the floor, anything soft and I think it was because of the declawing procedure.
We’ve picked out five of the best, modern cleaning products to help you deal with piddle stains and the resulting odor. Each is uniquely suited for something, and all of them are worthwhile for the animal owner who wants to keep their home from smelling and their carpets from being stained by the machinations of their dogs and cats.
You can also use a wet vacuum to “suck up” the urine if you have one on hand. This will lift more of the cat urine than blotting. Do not use a steam cleaner as at this point in the cleaning process the heat can cause the odor to last much longer and be more difficult to remove.[6]
Elaine, baking soda will help to absorb and neutralize some of the odors, but it won’t be as effective as an enzymatic cleaner. As for laundering, I would use the spray/enzyme cleaner directly in your washing machine and spray down the pieces you can’t launder.
With younger or very elderly dogs who are likely to have more frequent accidents, the blacklight gadget for detecting those dried on stains could be your best friend in keeping your carpets smelling fresh and looking clean – dog urine odor removal could be much more of a breeze than you thought!
5.  Skunked Pet – fortunately, we didn’t have the displeasure of testing out this awful stench firsthand, but my friend at CTI Clean used Stinkers! to neutralize an entire vial of skunk spray, and she made a video of it for you to check out:
Stinkers! is a powerful odor remover that’s tough enough for the nastiest of all organic household smells, and it actually eliminates the offending odor without just masking it. Stinkers! is available in a ready-to-use spray bottle or a 10x concentrated solution, and is safe for all fabrics, leaves no residue, and requires no rinsing. You can’t get much easier than that!
Rachel, those things work great and there are enzymatic cleaners designed for use in them. I’ve always just used the ones you can rent from hardware stores so I don’t really have any brand suggestions for you. Honestly, I’d just check Amazon and start reading reviews. Good luck!
Accidents will happen, particularly if you have a young puppy or an older dog. How to get the smell of dog wee out of carpet is big business, judging by the number of products that are on the market to do the job! But do you really need these chemicals? In this article, I am going to show you some simple tips for how to get dog urine out of carpet without chemicals, fuss or expense!
Bubba’s calls their enzyme cleaner “the pet stain and odor TERMINATOR” because it destroys stubborn urine smells for good. It eats away urine bacteria to prevent re-marking. You can spot-treat with Bubba’s, or add it to a load of laundry to wash dog bets and blankets stained with pee.
You may have to use this on the same stain a couple of times before it comes up completely. Some unhappy customers say not to expect miracles from the product, claiming it did nothing in the way of helping lift their carpet stains. Other unsatisfied reviewers mentioned the odor of this solution was too strong or unpleasant.
I have been told by an animal behaviorist about this product for ridding your carpet from pee odors and poop odors. The product is called Anti Icky Poo (lol). It is organic and environmentally safe to remove odors. It is avaible at some pet stores or online.

I think I used it within 5 minutes of getting it in my house. I followed the directions, I did it twice because it was so bad I wanted to be sure. It’s been a week now and the smell hasn’t come back. I even got it wet when I used an upholstery cleaner on it tonight and the smell still didn’t creep back up. Seriously, you can’t even tell the cat ever peed on it.
If you catch your cat urinating on your carpet or floor, gently and quickly move him to the litter tray. Don’t punish him as this may increase his stress. Try to reinforce positive behavior. Punishment only causes more stress.
2) Vinegar can direct your pet (cat, dog or rabbit), to pee in the spot where it was used. Don’t believe me? Read the human society’s website. If you put vinegar down, you are just going to have more accidents from your pet going in that spot.

Basically, the gadget is an Ultraviolet or ‘Black’ light which has an LED, low energy bulb. Just shine it over your carpet or upholstery and those little ‘whoopsies’ will become visible so you can deal with them.
I collect all my laundry water in a big plastic tub in the back yard, and it had come to stink also. I sprayed the tub with Skout’s Honor and the filthy smell was instantly gone. 2 months later, the laundry tub has developed that smell again, and I know how to get rid of it now.
The Washington Post have published an article about the dangers of various pesticides and other related chemical products that owners often use at home and forget that their dogs may come in contact with this. Always look for products that are safe for your dog, and better yet, purchase products made with as many natural ingredients as possible.
Assess the damage. If the urine is old (as in, you just discovered the accident two days after the deed was done), throw the pile into a bag – paper or plastic will do – and douse the clothes in baking soda to help lift the urine. Seal the bag by either tying it or taping it shut. Let the clothes (or curtains, rug, etc.) chill like this overnight. If the urine is fresh, though, just head straight to the washing machine.

Various illnesses can be accompanied by inappropriate urination, so it’s important to closely monitor your cat when they exhibit any sudden change in behavior. Cats with urinary tract disease often associate the litter box with pain and start avoiding it. If your cat is also showing symptoms like blood in the urine, excessive licking of the genitals, crying in the litter box, or straining to urinate, they are likely suffering from a urinary tract disease and should be treated immediately.

If the area still looks stained after drying out, use a high-quality carpet stain remover (our picks are below). Tip: The Humane Society urges you not to use heavy cleaning chemicals, like ammonia or vinegar. They actually don’t remove the odor, and the strong scent of the chemicals may entice your dog to mark “his” area again (learn more about why dogs mark their territory).

I once carried a cat urine laden backpack through four hours of class. It wasn’t until my last class of the day, which happened to be genetics, in a rather small, hot, stuffy room that I realized that the recurring whiffs of cat pee I had been smelling were indeed coming from me. All day I had been convincing myself I was crazy, there was no cat urine. But the truth was, I was carrying the cat pee. Luckily for myself and those around me, I had several years of experience working at a pet store where sometimes close to a dozen cats could be found wandering the aisles. There I had learned a few tricks and so was able to remedy the situation. Nowadays, armed not only with pet store experience, but also with the enlightenment that comes from owning and cleaning up after two cats of my own, I feel it’s my duty to pass on my knowledge so that all might learn the art of a pee free existence…or at least pee-free outside of the litter box.
After you’re done cleaning, shine a black light on a troublesome spot. It will show if cat urine is still present in the area. Sometimes it may seem like the urine is gone, but it can crystallize and stay present in carpet fibers. A black light shows the size of the stain that isn’t visible to the human eye or picked up by the human nose.
