“remove rabbit urine stains -getting dog pee out of carpet”

Hi Eric! I just discovered your website and was reading all the comments. I’ve had indoor cats for many, many years. I have probably come close to using every product on the market to get rid of the urine smell in my carpet. I even have a can of “Resolve Pet Expert” carpet cleaner (Kent’s solution to the problem back in February). Yes, Resolve does seem to work at the moment – but it certainly doesn’t last. The white vinegar solution works great as does the hydrogen peroxide/baking soda/dish liquid solution. I really just wanted to say kudos to your response to Kent’s comment back in February 🙂 There was no need for his rudeness so thank you for your response.
You may have to use this on the same stain a couple of times before it comes up completely. Some unhappy customers say not to expect miracles from the product, claiming it did nothing in the way of helping lift their carpet stains. Other unsatisfied reviewers mentioned the odor of this solution was too strong or unpleasant.
If you face the problem on the everyday basis (usually it is happening when you have a puppy and you are just trying to teach the puppy to pee where he should) you can prepare a small bottle of the mixture.
This bio-enzymatic formula from Nature’s Miracle is said to eliminate odor, stains, and sticky residue from carpets, furniture, clothing, and more. It is guaranteed to permanently eliminate stains and odors, so it is definitely worth a try! The self-proclaimed urine destroyer also works to discourage re-soiling due to its dual-action, odor-control system that destroys odors on contact.
Few things are worse than the lingering smell of cat urine. This stubborn problem requires detailed cleaning and a few good habits. Make sure you have the necessary supplies on hand and always be prepared for any surprises your cat has in store for you.
Replace the litter. Understandably, litter boxes can get pretty smelly. To clean your box, empty its contents into a plastic garbage bag, then scrub the litter box with soap and water. To remove stains and smells that put up a fight, pour some vinegar into the box and let it soak for about 30 minutes. Then, scrub the box with a brush, rinse it out, and let it air dry.
Happy New Year & Happy New Year Smells – The holidays are over, the guests are gone and the sweet smell of pine has left our homes as we get ready to settle into a long winter of stale, cold air. There is no time like the present to freshen the air you breathe inside your home, your car,…
There is also one trick which can helpful if you want to prevent repetition of the odor problem. If your dog is constantly peeing in the place you can sprinkle few drops of essential oil of apple, cinnamon or eucalyptus. This pleasant for human smell dogs do not like at all.
Hi Emily, great question! I recommend looking into crate training your dog. It’s not easy leaving your dog in a crate while you’re away, but it can help with training. Crate training has been proven to help dogs get potty trained. Check out the article and let me know if you have any questions, and good luck! https://www.caninejournal.com/crate-training-puppy/

Hello. I have a multi cat apartment and just recently realized there is a smell. I’m not sure if it’s urine or spray or a mixture. How can I get this smell out of my wood floors, tiles and in the air? Thank you!
Kierstin, thanks for your response. And the mention of our daughter. She’s clean right now and we’re hoping it sticks this time, as difficult a thing as that is. She’s in her early 20’s and I’d really hate to see her life go to waste to a horrible drug.
Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is a weak base chemical. As such, it neutralizes many acids, which are the cause of most odors, including any your pet can create on his own. This means that, unlike topical fragrances, baking soda does not merely mask odors, it destroys an acid’s ability to make an odor.
Clean up any pet urine that’s still wet. If the urine dries, it stains the carpet and increases bacteria growth. To best remove the stain, place a layer of several paper towels over the wet area of the carpet. Walk on the paper towels so that they absorb as much of the pet pee as possible. Removing wet urine reduces urine smell.

Clean the carpets. Spot cleaning stains will help remove smells from specific areas, but you may have a bunch of different smells over different areas of the carpet. Tackle smells all over the house with a thorough carpet cleaning. This might take time, but be patient. A smell-free house is worth the effort.[3] You can either use a powder or wet shampoo to clean your carpets:
Most every day cleaning solutions that we use will get rid of the main onset and effects of pet odor, but generally this will only work for a limited amount of time by overpowering it with a different scent or chemicals, but it is difficult to mask the odor completely. Over time most people find that things will still smell of pet odor, even after they have been cleaned and sprayed with a deodorizer. Air fresheners and aerosols only mask the smell of pet odor for the short term and are not effective at completely ridding the home of the smell.
Thank you everyone. I have a suitcase that someone peed in (I think), as well as the clothes that were in it. The person who belongs to the clothes is appalled, and I really need to find out: 1. How to fix it; 2. Why whoever did it…did it.
The above recipe will give you enough cleanser to use twice or treat two stains. Mix more to treat larger areas. Do not store the already-mixed solution: mix a fresh new batch when your pet has an accident.
I discovered this product after my mother remedy doesn’t work on our cat urine on the carpet. I was about to take it to the laundry if the remover doesn’t work. But it really surprised me that the stain got destroyed after a few minutes. But my husband doesn’t like the smell very much, that’s strange, because I find it completely normal.
As we talked about in Removing Smoke Odors above, ammonia is good for some odors but do not use it to clean urine stains. Your pets urine breaks down into the same components as ammonia. If you clean with ammonia, your pet will come back to pee there over and over again!
Finally, if you do want to use a perfumed product to help neutralize the smell, make sure that it is non-toxic to animals. Many products that are safe for humans are not always safe for dogs. Some home air fresheners – sprays, plug-ins and scented oils – can be harmful to a pet’s health, so when in doubt, just stick with the tried and true baking soda solution.

Apologies I actually posted that comment before I completed it. I would love a suggestion for the best way to clean ceramic tiles! Also, since the bathroom is a small space should I use the same products for every surface or would it be ok to use vinegar and bleach on different surfaces in the same room? Thank you!
I have 2 older poms, Bear is 10 and had a bad time for several months of drinking every drop of water, several times a day and then constantly having accidents all over the house. And every time I took them out, he went a lot! First vet visit I was told that his urine was too watered to tell if he had any infection. Then told they wanted him brought back for expensive testing to check for cushings disease. Since I couldn’t afford $500-$1000 in testing medications, I decided to change their dry food to something more reputable. Since taking them off just 6 and on to nature’s balance then blue wilderness (slightly more affordable) Bear is doing great! Maybe 2-3 accidents in last 5 months! (That may have been my fault for not getting them outside for too long) I am not trying to talk bad about any vets or food labels, I just want to share this experience because it may be helpful to someone.

With especially old, or deeply penetrated urine stains, baking soda and vinegar may not do enough to lift the odor and the bacteria that causes it. This is where a more powerful tool comes in handy. The Bissell Little Green ProHeat has proven itself to be a total lifesaver in my life (seriously, my mom “borrowed” mine and I immediately had to order a new one because with two toddlers and two cats, it’s become a nearly everyday essential for me).
The best way for a homeowner to perform simple odor removal is with a readily accessible substance. Homeowners have been getting rid of foul smells with home remedies for decades. While these substances are easy to apply to the carpet and are effective for smaller jobs, they aren’t feasible for more extensive problems. Also, they don’t typically eliminate the cause of the scent but cover it up instead. This just masks the health hazard in the room and so it remains a threat.
One of the nice things about this product is that it has Scotchguard built right into it, meaning that you get the cleaning and odor removal followed by a protective layer that will stay in place on the offending rug.
My dog had an accident in the bedroom so I pulled back the carpet cut out the underlay washed it thoroughly with normal washing detergent bleached the floorboards then laid a bin bag on the floorboards with some kitchen towels on top I placed the carpet back down and rinsed the carpet through with warm water and washing detergent replacing the towels as i went along until they were clear and the urine had gone after scrubbing and soaking up the water the smell has now gone the underlay is back down with the carpet and there is no stain or smell in sight
Cat urine is not all that different from other animals’ urine, but what gives cat urine such a bad smell is that the urine is usually left unnoticed until it becomes a problem. Cats have a propensity to mark their territory outside the litter box, be it on the carpet or in hidden corners.  After a while, the bacterium in the urine decomposes and gives off an ammonia-like odor characteristic of stale old urine. The second stage of the decomposition process emits mercaptans, compounds that give skunk spray its characteristic bad smell. Older animals have kidneys that have lost some of their efficiency and, as a consequence, older animals tend to have the worst smelling urine.
