“remove urine smell from nylon -what takes dog urine smell out of carpet”

[…] Home Life Weekly and eHow have similar “recipes”, so I’m gonna try this out…as soon as I buy white vinegar. I’ve got apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar, rice wine vinegar, basalmic vinegar.  No plain-ol’ vinegar.  Egads, I really need to stock up on my home staples! […]
For most pet owners, it takes trial and error before they find something that works. In this case, we’ve already done the leg work and picked out five (out of dozens of others) that are pet-safe and will remove urine stains and eliminator the odor effectively.
I completely forgot that you can use a UV light to find stains in the carpet. My husband and I have noticed that our living room smells like our dog, so we are working on getting it cleaned up. I could use the light to spot clean, but I think it would be better to shampoo the entire room. Thanks for your advice about what products to try! http://www.prosteamplus.ca/cleaning_services.html
We have an apartment also and I’ve wondered about what they’re going to do with this carpet when we move out, because our pet deposit is too small to be enough to replace all the carpet… BUT we do use baking soda/vinegar mixture on it to clean then vinegar sprayed on top out of a spray bottle. Seems to work well, and she doesn’t go to the same spots every time, it seems pretty random.
Any parent or pet owner has dealt with the unfortunate task of cleaning urine “accidents” from the floor and carpet. It is a natural occurrence when potty or house training and when the child or pet are sick. Carpet cleaners can be pricy and can stain expensive rugs.
The natural enzymatic bacteria are activated on contact with odors and stains, and it feeds on the matter until it is completely eliminated. This product from Rocco & Roxie is gentle and safe, as it contains no chlorine or hazardous propellants, and it doesn’t leave behind any residue.
Understand only enzymatic cleaners can get rid of urine odor completely. Uric acid can only be broken down by enzymes. Unfortunately, cleaners like baking soda, soap, and vinegar will only mask the smell temporarily. These alternative methods are good to use if you don’t have enzymatic cleaner on hand at the moment of the incident. Eventually, you will need to clean the area with enzymatic cleaner.

We have only had good results with the enzyme based Natures Miracle product in the red sprsy bottle, unless it has been changed . Their aerosol can carpet product uses a strong masking perfume abd we do not recommend that version.
I bought this at Target for about $4.50, applied liberally with the sprayer–though I was tempted just to dump it on the carpet as my hand was getting sore. I was pretty skeptical but thought it would be worth a try. 24 hours after application, there’s just a mild scent of detergent and virtually no smell of urine. It does say it contains bacteria and enzyme solution, which I believe might be the key. Neither of the other solutions I tried mention anything about enzymes or bacteria.
We quickly and effeciently remove odors left behind by guests including body odors, moisture, food odors, tobacco and even marijuana and we never use ozone or toxic, temporary fragrances or other cover-ups.
Sometimes we are so distracted by the fact that dog puddle appeared again on our favorite carpet that we immediately forget about all the tips and secret methods. Some of us start screaming at the pet and the others just throw the carpet out on the balcony until it will dry out. Unfortunately liquid will only evaporate but not the smell.
Day to day life is full of funky smells – dirty diapers, mildewed laundry, spoiled food, pet accidents, and SO many more. We’ve had our fair share of stinky situations lately, and as a result, I discovered a fantastic odor removal product that works even better than I had hoped!
For mattresses, to remove cat urine the best thing to do is to make a double, triple or even quadruple batch of the cat urine smell remover to completely cover the stain and then really pour it on. Don’t be afraid of saturating the mattress. The cat urine has gone deep into the mattress, so you need to make sure that there’s enough solution to go deep into the mattress as well. The solution has to reach the cat urine to neutralize it. You could treat the cat urine in the mattress in the morning so that the solution can work through the day. The mattress will often be dry enough for use by bedtime.
Anyone who has dealt with cat urine issues (and really loves their cat, like I do) knows the frustration that goes comes along with it. Why do our furry loved ones do this to us? Since we may not ever know the answer, at least we have SUN to clean it up in the meantime. Not only does SUN smell great (not like urine at all) my cat does not urinate on the same spot again after it has completely dried and I have completed my “method. I wrote this review on my accord and made it so detailed because I know there someone out there who is at their breaking point and needs try something new. For only 7.99, you have to try this stuff! My only compliant… please make a bigger bottle!
Cleans urine stains better and faster on porous grout. Because we do not have constraints that enzyme-based cleaners do, we can include ingredients such as an oxygen-based bleaching agent (hydrogen peroxide), surfactants, a mild solvent (isopropyl alcohol) and an acidic pH.
Trish, the stuff is super pervasive. I’m not sure what the service used as a cleaner, so I can’t speak its smell. The problem is that the urine was there on the carpet, in the pad, and in the subfloor for a long time. It soaked in so it may take several treatments to get rid of it. Especially if they’re sucking the cleaner back up before it has a chance to penetrate the wood. Also, don’t worry about vinegar smell. It dissipates fairly quickly. I use the stuff for a lot of my household cleaning. It’s potent, but the smell doesn’t last.
To avoid the extremely strong odor of male cat urine, always have male cats neutered. Not only is the smell of their odor stronger, but un-neutered male cats also have tendencies to urinate in areas other than their litter boxes.[19]
I have also used this recipe to treat an area on my front steps where a very large dog that recently moved into the neighborhood decided to take his morning and evening constitutional. The urine smell very strong, and bleach neither removed the odor nor got the dog to stop urinating on my stair post. This recipe did the trick.
